An...

An entire bloated and diseased industry rides on the backs of the 'artists' that it enslaves.

To quote Jimmy Buffett's 'Overkill':

Out in Hollywood, the paper money rolls

They feed their egos, instead of their souls

A million here, a million there, a mindless corporate dance

Get paid for f'ing off, in the south of France

They don't do the shows, but they act like the stars

They fly around in G4's and suck on big cigars

It ain't about the talent, it ain't about the skill

It's all about the silly stupid horseshit deal

The 'music industry' is a parasite feeding off of the artists and their fans. Like most of corporate america, the smell of money and exercise of raw, nekud power is at the root.

Insurance companies are the same way, nothing but worthless hungry parasites feeding off of the health care industry...

Irony is not dead.

Ironic that the 'anti-semite' charge is lobbed (by cowards) onto so many liberals and liberal commentators and it's the wacko blight wing that is trivializing the 'jewish experience'.

I had a jewish friend years ago who said that she couldn't support the Israeli government. She saw no connection between the jewish religion and the government of Israel. She said that many would ahve thought her an 'anti-semite' which would be strange considering that she was in fact jewish. I remember at the time that she said that it would be like people criticizing the US government being labeled 'traitors' and 'anti-patriotic'. She pointed to a long history of people being able to criticize the government in America and not be labeled but anyone criticizing the Israeli government is treated like a pariah and is ganged up on, attacked, insulted and browbeaten.

We do live in interesting times. How long until criticizing the government here results in charges of being 'anti-American'? It's already happened and many didn't even recognize it's arrival.

Fly? Who wants too?

that every comment on this this thread will be of deep interest to DHS drones.....

They will track you, they will no fly you, they will find your ssn and trace you.

And that's ok.

'cuz the dolt in the white house and his evil minions/masters are keeping everybody safe.

I still fly. However I haven't been able to browse eBay for alternate cell phones all weekend. (I have at&t. The 'warm and fuzzy' death star)

The biggest reason...

The biggest reason that the following quote is true:

"The American people are rising up in disgust," Cole said, "and incumbents will pay. It's not anti-Republican anymore. It's anti-Washington."

Is because democrats have helped the public think that they 'control' the senate. With the use of the previous republican 'nuclear option', then democrats could control 'congress'...

Someone needs to MAKE IT an 'anti-republican' issue rather than sit by and wallow in the real possibility that the democrats will lose the election to the most unpopular president's party in the history of politics. Make the herd voting of the republicans an issue and the people will see.

Continue with the democrats 'control' congress and the public will miss the nuance and feel that the democrats have completely flipped... (Which wouldn't be quite untrue)

Label me...

Labeling has a powerful effect on the weak minded.

When you label something or someone you deny their humanity.

Try 'gooks' and 'VC' from vietnam and 'sand ni--ers' and 'towel heads' from the various Iraq excursions.

One of the best lines, to me, in any movie came from of all places 'Waynes World' when Wayne Campbell says 'label me and you deny me' apparently quote Kierkegaard(?).

The world is full of labels. I try to not use them when I can but even then I can feel the change in attitude towards someone when I label them 'stupid' or 'inept' or 'short bus'...

Bottom line is that the ADL and their related groups have a very high emotional impact 'brand' to sell. They have fought for full marketing rights to it as well.

Throwing 'anti-semite' or 'Hitler' around without their implicit approval meets with almost the same as a 'cease and desist' letter from a copyright holder.

It's a powerful brand and like all brand holders they have to watch out for imitators and those that use it inappropriately.

Looking at it from that angle makes the whole thing take on a huge ugly tint but slightly ironic that the marketers of their hate speak use the exercise of evil done to their people as a weapon against others who seek what they claim to represent. (Anyone follow that?)

It would seem like Hitler and the Nazi's were the best thing that happened to them and the reich wing of the republican party (ironically no strangers to fascism themselves).

The...

"Now, watch this drive..."

The 'free market' is about those that are free (the rich) controlling those that aren't (everyone else).

Costa Rica will be ravaged and left for dead, like all the other countries. It's a shame... A crying shame...

On hedge funds? You assume that his dodging was because he didn't want to answer. I doubt that he even knows what one is!

But...

Being 'friendly' likely meant willing to take it in the ass for the party, without lube...

He's probably the only candidate that is 'dumber' than Bush.

As long...

It also proves that they no longer care who knows it.

As long as they make money off it, of course... That's 'Bush league responsible politics'.

In a related article has anyone not read the latest Nation? The one with Rudy riding the black clouds?

He has to be defeated, at any and all cost...

Original article: Bush "at peace" waging war

He's...

He's a delusional sociopath...

Hitler, to make a tired comparison, was evil, do doubt, but he was a smart kind of evil. Is Bush that kind of evil?

He's a chameleon, a huckster, a charlatan, the trickster from Greek mythology. He can instill loyalty in those that he horse whips and abuses. Is he the 'anti-Christ'?

Was humanity destined to have a leader like him?
