Original article: Silencing "Opus," again

If...

I was amused to see the extremes that Islamic women will go to in order to be 'independent' and yet shackled to their religion of misogynistic hatred and distrust of women.

After visiting England recently and seeing all of the black robed Shades floating through Harrods my wife and I had the same thought: for a religion that claims to 'honor women' and seeks to keep them 'sacred', it sure looks like the gilded cage is more a prison and torture than a spot of 'honor'.

Who knows if women started out as honored in Islam in the distant past. It's telling in how the 'honored' became the enslaved of today. When I heard of the 'burkini', I thought it a joke aimed at their strict 'religion' but when I found out it was an actual product my heart sank for isn't the 'burkini' just a wilting flower on the bars of the prison of Islamic dogma?

My earlier comments:

If it's not scripted from the Bush Junta then it's off limits.

Who knows if 'islamic extremists' are mating like rabbits. It's through satire and comedy (Daily Show, Colbert Report, Added: Fox News) that many now get their news.

Declaring these Opus strips 'off limits' is cowardice in a time of near complete cowardice to face the wrongs that are being done by our countries leaders.

Ahh the days when the Washington Post actually stood up to the countries leaders. Was it all just a dream.

Uh...

I hate to mention that the Democrats do not control the Congress.

Control of Congress requires more than 50%. It requires over 60% to avoid bills dieing in the abyss of Congress's arcane rules.

If all that was needed is a simple majority then the Dems have 'control', but as has been shown since the election, they do not have any control over their own members which even further quashes the idea that Democrats 'control' anything.

It's obvious that the Republicans are going to use the lack of legislative action as a club in the upcoming elections for they still have incredible power to derail any legislative agenda that the Democrats might have. That coupled with the House leaderships cowardice of not pushing failed bills through again and again if necessary could result in a tougher election than anyone thinks possible.

The Republicans will not go peaceably into the night... Anyone thinking otherwise is delusional...

What...

What I find ridiculous is the lack of free wifi in airports.

Why should I have to pay to use the internet in United's International Club in ORD when I can get free wifi in NorthWest's world club lounge in DTW?

I'll fly NorthWest from now on, thank you...

Paying $7.00 and up for wifi in an airport is stupid! I need to check emails before my 9 hour flight. Yes, I'll pay BIG MONEY for 5 minutes of access that I'll never use again until I get back to ORD the next time?

Come on... Runaway capitalism is killing America. Cut the damn CEO's salary and perks rather than tick off customers. DUH!

I think...

I think it's a much larger condemnation of the latest perversion of the 'American Society' where people morn the jailing of 'pop tart' Paris Hilton and want to be 'just like Lindsay' and cook their brains with the best that Madison Avenue and the corporate enhanced boob tube has to offer.

We ARE a nation of ignorant and intolerant ignoramuses and here's a bit if news: The rest of the world knows it.

As Peter Gabriel said in the intro his song 'The Barry Williams Show' in concert a few years ago, 'people used to think they are what they eat, or they are what they wear or what they drive. I believe we are what we watch.'

Ahhh, the glow of a corporate America. Full of Shiny Happy (and ignorant) People...

Her panic is obvious. Our revulsion of the perversion of our once valued educational system that now seeks to label evolution a theory and religious superstition as fact and the shift of schools from public institutions that are answerable to the public to educational factories that turn out 'test takers' rather than sentient human beings with inquisitive minds should be evident, like political leadership from the opposition party...

Sending...

Sending a copy of the article isn't a bad idea.

I thought of delivering a frozen chicken to each of my democrat senators and representatives (and Dave Camp) as a protest method, only thanks to this wonderful 'Bush Recovery' I am short on funds.

Imagine a room filled with thawing chickens... *BAWK*

None...

None of us are perfect, but to have such a spectacular fall from such a high place in such a way is comical.

In the grand scheme of things, she 'blew it'. She blew it in a venue that is a disgrace to young women a peep show that should have ended decades ago.

Beauty contests are what the Tour de France is turning in to: a display of what modern pharmacology, surgery and well placed money can provide.

Pushup bras, padding, lifts, Vaseline, rouge in the cleavage. It's all part of the sideshow of humanity... Get your tickets...

In the end, Bush and the corporate media will do more damage. This just reinforces how shallow and inept Americans are to the rest of the world...
