Original article: Some stories just won't fly

interesting points...

But would GPS work from 2 miles down in the Atlantic.

Do pilots slow down when entering storms?

What's 'FMC'?

Sometimes 'journalists' are like hard up men in a bar desperately trying to pick up women. They say literally *anything* trying to get attention, and get paid...

That first one about the 'dark clouds' would make me almost wet myself laughing... Of course they are 'dark'. It's night... DUH! Although I do remember coming into ORD at night with a HUGE supercell storm moving east to west, north of the airport. It was far enough away that it had no effect on our travels but it was a sight to see. You could make out that looming hulk in the distance being lit from within by the enormous lightening. It was rather beautiful with each bolt, and there were a lot of them... So beautiful and yet so potentially deadly. And so large too. It towered above our altitude. And on land people were pacing the airport bitching about their north heading flights being delayed or canceled. 'This effing airline won't get any more of my business!' people nearly screaming at each other, at airline employees and into their cell phones. Well, at least you will likely live to hate the airline for another day sporto...

So...

So Mark got his ass spanked by even those in his own party and...

...he runs of to Argentina??? WTF???

Did his mom have this problem when little Markie got his ass spanked when he was a kid?

Dog collar? No, ankle bracelet! Or a nice cushy job at McDonald's...

But CDMA is dead.

GSM is the new number one for cell phones. CDMA is, or perhaps should be, dead. How long until Qualcomm is forced to divest their CDMA assets?

Original article: Dream big, Obama

He is 'revolutionary'...

He's defending most of the more heinous actions of the most hated and criminally inept administration that The United States has ever seen.

That's 'revolutionary', isn't it? Maybe not but it's disgusting.

Um...

I thought it was 'chicken' that usually made people sick?

The...

The current crop of 'democrats' are so busy running scared from the 'joe six-packs' and 'jane soccer-mom' that they have lost the ability to see the forest for the trees.

They get their marching orders from the same source that the bill o'reilley's and glen beck's do. They have turned into hilariously inept caricatures of 'republicans' with a conscience but they still end up doing the wrong thing...

Those 'democrats' aren't functionally very different from republicans and don't have the balls god gave a mouse. And while I think a third party is needed, it's going to take a few generations before it wil be able to command respect and win federal elections.

So...

So you should take the crumbs that Obama sweeps onto the floor and be happy...

He's still anti-gay marriage and still thinks that DADT is a wonderful idea and probably even feels that gay bashing isn't hate speech but wow: You got 'benefits' back. Only for federal employees. Nice 'victory'. Let's party like it's 1979?

Patrick..

I was wondering what you thought of the news of the Continental pilot dying. It was dubbed an 'emergency' and was likely whipped up into a frenzy on the teevee news as 'journalists' breathlessly opine on the viability of the flight. Memories of the JetBlue landing with the cockeyed nose wheel flashed into my mind.

Part of the problem with new carbon fibre and other composite products is that unlike metal, there usually isn't much flex or other apparent damage like creasing, etc before failure. Plus layered composite construction can hide small irregularities that can contribute to failure. Unlike metal, composites don't stretch before failure, they generally just snap but they are more durable. The are less pliable or elastic. But would I feel less safe in an Airbus plane? No.

It's the friday news cycle.

The O'Reilly vieers were off making antiabortion banners and burning books on Friday night so they would naturally miss the interview. But then on Monday, Bill knows his exhausted crew would be back with obsessive attention to watch him disembowel that retched 'liberal'...

It's the same reason so many of Bush's most embarrassing news releases happened late on Fridays... No one was watching.

Right wing coddling of terrorists.

You only have to look as far as Orlando Bosch, a close personal friend of George Herbert Walker Bush and an identified agent for the CIA.

Bosch blew up Cubana flight 455, killing 73 people and also, using an illegal 57 calibre 'recoilless rifle, attacked a Polish freighter.

Jeb Bush worked the levers of power, and his father, and got Mr. Bosch's conviction on the later incident overturned.

Mr. Bosch reportedly walks the streets of America a 'free man' but is wanted by many countries around the world.

Why are angry white guys shooting people? Why did the government of BOTH Bush's do such a crappy job supporting human rights and the rule of law and yet insert a gun in anyone's hands that wanted one? It's as if they actually WANTED peope to be shot.
