is the real subject here as several posters have pointed out. the trolls have distracted (me included) the content of this thread, but watching CBS scramble to cover their butts should be a treat. Think Katie will cover this?

back in the day of the draft, laws changed monthly it seemed. but the way it usually went was, 1. you lost your student deferrment. if you didn't have one you, like most of my working class buddies enlisted in what ever service suited you. 2. you got a notice of physical and (assuming you would pass) tentative induction date. they were real considerate and wanted you to be able to plan ahead. 3. you went in the army, went to canada, became a quaker or, if you was connected, joined the guard.

it wasn't just texas that was privalaged, any rich kid got out if they wanted. note rich kids gore & kerry went. to. vietnam.

i have listened to too many of my vietnam vet buddies, including several who were at the same hell hole, khe sahn, as max cleland to give w. a pass on this. i asked you earlier, why does a marine defend this amoral, smirking frat boy?

    capice?

yeah, he probably is...he never responded to my profane answer tto his questioning why i was 1-Y (then 4-F) in 1969. or maybe he's too young to know what position midlde guard is...

it's funny how we keep getting away from CBS on this but...this guy really wants to let us know how tough he is and marines don't need to say it...

i don't think bebop-o wants you off planet, i think he's just looking for a little beauty anywhere he can find it, and more power to him. not all vets can handle their pain in as stoic a fashion as garry owen seems to (i am not a vet), i came of age during the vietnam war (4F) but oh so many of my friends lost their youth there. most recovered, but not all.

considering the vitriol coming from the right a little beauty may be all we have left...

...if in fact david sugarman has been banned or limited in any, that's crap. his posts, while sometimes bordering on the bizarre, are not offensive. as he said, we have had our disagreements, but i don't believe we walk in lock step here do we?

come back ~~~~ and shooter...let's talk war crimes!

while i don't entirely embrace the notions about gov'mint conspiracy on sept 11, 2001...the currant administration/bush family values certainly should give one pause, eh.

  • What ever happened to the home of the brave?

[Read the article: Angry, hateful liberal bloggers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

we used to be a "can do" society. since the current occupant and his syncophants came to our formally happy home, we have become the excuse ridden "it's hard work" society. considering none of our leaders has a clue as to what hard work really is (pave a road in AZ in Aug, do roofing or laying sod anywhere) this is not surprising. now we must live in fear and remove our shoes/shampoo/nail clippers/hand lotion before getting on a plane.

the right wing fear machine should be held up for what it is, a bastardization of the last phrase in our national anthemn...never mind that f scott keys couldn't sing.

no, i don't believe that that RW has a monopoly on fear...they just make more noise. the democrats have shown a fear of bush that totally blows me away.

  • hillary wants the power

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

that the bush/cheney cabal has granted the executive branch. a hillary clinton presidency, i fear, will be little different from the current regime. especially as regards the govt. and corporate america's illicit affair.

yeah jimmy carter is a real bad guy...pounding nails for HFH, as opposed to w. doing a foto op and showing the world the fool does'nt even know how to use a hammer.

i did not think him very good president, but he may be the best ex-prez ever and you probably could not walk his walk...

can we make this a reality TV show? long ago in a previous post i wanted it called "waterboarding dick cheney" featuring all members of congress that voted for the torture bill. and as i said then, let's start with my own senator debbie.
