...and the first words from this 85 year old were..."i'm no hillary clinton supporter but..". wonderful piece, ms. traister, but let me warn you, my mom is seriously pissed at all journalists!

i don't watch tv much, but i do read the free press and thought the styles, not to mention the handle, looked similar.

while an A2 resident, i find i agree with you often. btw, meant no disrespect with the homie reference.

    cheers!

that something just ain't right. rememeber CREEP? the most just acronym in the history of acronyms. right now the press coverage of sen. clinton as too female & sen obama as not enough black are giving me that feeling again. and is edwards just too white? i feel creepy all over again...

    we are being manipulated, eh...

i'm gonna quote my mom, while not a hrc supporter, i can see the clinton/obama ticket as a good thing. don't know that he'd go there...

as a parent of children from ages 9-22 ( (what was i thinking?) your take on the focus of educators to teach down resounds. this is a distincly liberal position that has this old boy questioning his politics at times.

my family is hosting a german exchange student, bright kid. but he immediately affected the compton banger look. he did not understand when i tried to explain the origins. in fact he wears a belt!

my point, besides my being old and thinking cool involves leather, cuban points & a duck tail, is that the look evolved from prison; not to my mind the best role models, though i'm sure there those that gave up the life. i'm just guessing they bought belts.

i'm sure there is a bit of cultural bias. but i just think it looks like a plumber. wearing boxers (thank god?)

i never told him to change, just tried to educate him, as best i could. there are perceptions out there and yes, clothes (i don't own a tie) are your first perception. as to books, i read, my kids read, i monitor reading. i only object to material that is not appropriate to age. mostly dealing with violence.

ellis cose & bill cosby have expressed the thought that "w'as up" is probably not good in certain career applications.

i don't really know street cred, but i think i know smart, erudite people. at least as well as the next person that can negotiate a 4 way stop. they both strike me as that...as does bob herbert, thomas sowell, cynthia tucker. not that i agree with all of them...

well, i guess thinking had little to do with it. but there you are. prior to this adventure, i spent my life on the road working with musicians. just grew up? too late...

the idea of left wing media has managed to live on, and no doubt promoted by, the corporate media that has been the reality of the last dozen years or so. this is what they would like you to think, and you have bought it.

    now, go watch american idol....

bigots getting the vapors is exactly what is leading said bigots to screw with the constitution. as an earlier poster noted, most conservatives don't want the govt. messing with anything we do. except in the bedroom. then it's fine.

the next logical step, as long as you are at it, is deny basic social compacts. that will surely get them chasin' their own kind...

may be the biggest joke of the election season. rich boy, prep school native, son of (shitty) governor takes the repugs. and dems are left with clinton. kucinich, or uncommitted. as i've had enough of bushclintonbush, and never been uncommitted, i had to repel my instinct to make mischief on the r. side...what a sad day for the electoral process. though my ID did pass.

i can't wait for the dems to call me for $$$....

and you are no doubt as intemperate as your comments, and that's a good thing.

speaking out about this nonsense about gays is the only way to rise above the bigoted RW chatter. it is a sorry ass political diversion that affects real lives every day.

    of course liked a drink...

and i mix up my coward, shaw and churchill...

    but did not it go...

Lady Astor.."and you, sir are drunk"

...i wear that badge with honor...

as you rightfully should. gay rights & women's reproductive rights would seem to have little in common, on the surface. that they are both used to rally bigots gives them commonallity (is that a word?) that defies logic...save for jealousy. their own juices indeed.

in the repug side of this travesty. then realized that the little "r" next to my name would put me in their camp. all well and good, except the @#*% dems wouldn't call for $$$.
