I go to a lot of concerts, almost all of which are awesome. I'd like to think this is because of my taste, but the fact that I get excited by the shared happy experience has a lot to do with it, too.

Good acts I've seen recently:
Sir Hugh Orde was the chief of Police Services for Northern Ireland, and was up against the IRA for 30 years. He's recently pointed out that no terrorist conflict has ever been resolved solely through military means. Britain, he says, should talk to al-Qaeda: the tricky bit is determining when is the right time to do so. Jonathan Powell (Tony Blair's former chief of staff) and Lord West (the current security minister) agree.
So do I. It's important to resolve things. Those who name-call with cries of "appeasement!" seem to think it's more important to be on some moral high ground. Meanwhile, the conflicts go on.
