  • Lousy neighbors

[Read the article: How can I sell my house with a buffed-out screamer dude next door?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I lived in a house in Palo Alto, CA when I was in my early 20's - we were the bad neighbors - not evil, but bad. I picked my roommate up off the asphalt in front of our house after he tried to show someone that he could pop a wheelie on his motorcycle at 1:00 a.m. That was 25 years ago. I have grown up since then. I have rented almost all of my adult life - bought a condo a year and a half ago. I have found a neighbor dead of a drug overdose. I have had neighbors who routinely partied til 6:00 a.m. I have had drug dealer neighbors. I have reported people for domestic violence. I have had neighbors who would not throw away their garbage - piles 6 feet high and 10 feet square. I have had neighbors that allowed their 2 year old to wander the neighborhood. I have had neighbors that abused their pets. I have had neighbors who stole my clothing out of the laundry areas. These events happened in nice and not so nice neighborhoods.

I currently live in a condo complex with 200+ units. The average price is $600,000+. I am on the Board of Directors. We had a drunken brawl in the hallway a couple of months ago. We had suspected drug dealers. We have had several calls for domestic violence. We had a drunk resident plow into the building over Christmas. Drunk driving is a common problem. People leave trash in inappropriate places. They potty their dogs in the hallways.

Class and neighborhood are not always a good indicator.

  • A lawyer who doesn't know how to obfuscate?

    [Read the article: "I don't remember ... I wasn't involved ... I don't recall"]

What a lousy liar. I wouldn't want him for my lawyer...

  • Everybody form a circle...

It's time for a firing squad...

    Mr. Sampson needs a cigarette.

  • I would cut him some slack -

[Read the article: McCain: It's fun to be wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If he hadn't wasted taxpayer money, endangered lives, and tried to pull off a political stunt with his "free walk" in Baghdad while knowing that it was a sham.

  • Not my alma mater.....

[Read the article: More drunken pirates, fewer teachers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My photo appeared in official publications by my alma mater - recruiting materials, no less, in the early 1980's. I was long-haired, bearded, and under the influence. This was a prestigious, private California university. Times have changed....

Doubt that they would do it today, though.

"Oh and yeah those several hundred thousand boat people who fled VN after 1975. Well never mind it's all good."

Well, seeing as the current extimates of Iraq refugees is at the 2,000,000 mark, we have already got Viet Nam beat.

By the way, 466 have been admitted to the U.S. as refugees -

    .0233% - after 4 years of war.

Another thing we "forgot" to plan for. And this is not counting the 1.7 million displaced within the country.

    From the International Herald Tribune:

"The United Nations estimates that two million Iraqis have fled the country and that 1.7 million are displaced in Iraq. Of those, about 500,000 have been displaced since February 2006, with 40,000 to 50,000 additional Iraqis fleeing their homes each month.

The United States has admitted only 466 Iraqi refugees since the American- led invasion.

The first Iraqi refugees to arrive in the United States under the new plan are likely to come from Turkey; most of them fled Iraq under Saddam Hussein. The second group is expected to come from Syria, followed by others from Jordan. They are expected to include Iraqis who have been identified for reward for working with U.S. authorities."

Talk about exceeding expectations - Mr. 9% Favorable....

    You've outdone yourself.

  • Hate Crimes -

[Read the article: Trying to change the subject?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, went even further. He suggested that Cohen's line of questioning might cause anti-Christian bigots to act out violently against Christians. If that occurred, he said, "The person on this committee could possibly be charged under the Hate Crimes bill.""

The Hate Crimes bill that the Republicans have fought tooth and nail - Gohmert is either being ironic, disingenuous, or unbelievably hypocritical. I vote for the latter two of the three.

Bunch of verbal bomb-throwing a-holes should know all about inciting to violence. What about the Moro building, attacks on abortion clinics, or the fundie nutjob who left a bomb in Olympic Park?

    Make me puke.

  • What about interest rates?

[Read the article: The student loan rip-off]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My student loan iterest rates have gone from 3.2% to 7.2% in the last couple of years. I have credit cards that are cheaper than my student loans. Fortunately for me, mine are nearly paid off, so it's probably not worth moving them to a credit card, but if I were a college student facing paying off $50k at 7.2%, I would probably start looking for a way out. Medical students can finish up with over $100k in student loans - that would be $780/month for 20 years or $910/month for 15 - and that assumes that interest rates won't go up.

    Well, education is over-rated anyway.

  • The Freudian Slip Lives

[Read the article: The president and the peach man]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Him "Peach man" = impeachment - a message from Georgie's rather shallow sub-conscious. He realizes on some level that he is further out of his depth than a toddler in a shark tank. This is "cry for help" from a man who knows that he has f'ed up the world.
