Thank you
[Read the article: The politics of hope]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just want to join the others in thanking you for saying what those of us who are not eloquent are thinking.

Par for the Course
[Read the article: Kucinich, Ahmadinejad and the tongue stud]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As has been noted by previous postings, Kucinich has not had the most flattering coverage. The UFO question in the last debate had no reason to be there except to embarrass and belittle him. How sad when we are not able to listen to someone offer differing opinions and instead are forced to watch them being taunted by corporate hacks posing as journalists.

Perhaps we're over thinking this a bit???
[Read the article: My baby's for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I see kiddos with all sorts of things on their shirts. There are semi-offensive slogans, Disney advertising, sayings denoting 'girl power' and the list goes on. Why would politics be any different?
To me this is no different than dressing Billy up like Daddy. Daddy wears a flannel and jeans with a political tee shirt... what the heck is the difference if Billy is?
WOW, when my 3 yr old is expected to have his 'own rights' on what political party he supports the world has gone crazy!

It's all about follow through
[Read the article: NAACP head wants Florida, Michigan delegates counted]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This was all agreed to... it had been decided... and then OOPS, the election is too close (meaning Clinton is not winning) and we have to do something. Florida and Michigan aren't some extra votes that can be pulled out if things get too close to letting someone other than an 'insider' be nominated.
I have children, you have to do what you say you're going to or no one listens to you...

Great Response!
[Read the article: Quote of the day: Obama on boxers vs. briefs]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]His remarkable ability to call them on the idiocy of the question and not appear stuffy is terrific. Answering wouldn't have made him seem 'earthy' as Kerry would have thought, instead it would have brought him down to the pandering level of most politicians. I applaud his response and believe that this is one of the many reasons he is the best nominee.

Making Democracy Funny
[Read the article: Can Stephen Colbert save America?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stewart/Colbert/Maher are doing a public service. They are making democracy accessible. Current events are explained IN DETAIL and in a way that makes it easy to understand. CNN and other MSM tend to hedge their comments so as not to offend and Stewart et al. don't have to be careful. They come out and show the clips of the WH Press Secretaries saying different things on different days.
In my opinion, the most important thing they do is show that the inner workings of the government are not something that is beyond the average citizen's comprehension. We all can understand being lied to, we all can understand when the facts don't add up. In fact, in a democracy, we're not only supposed to understand those things, but we're expected to act on them! What we think makes a difference and Stewart et al. have made it clear that we are a thinking electorate, we just need someone to give us the facts!

What's the goal?
[Read the article: How did Sarah Palin do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If your goal was to be negative and snarky then she pulled it off. If instead you wanted the American people to get to know you and what you stand for... Then no, she didn't do a good job.
