I smell a rat

Not to underestimate Senator Obama but I do think he's likely to be sandbagged with very little to be gained from it. The footage is likely to be sliced and diced and replayed ad naseum on Fox. They are not going to take him down with one silver bulllet. It will be rips and tatters and small cuts.

The first tip off is Roger Ailes saying Fox is a serious news organization. He should have extracted a retraction from them at least.

Have they announced the wedding date yet?

I think the Levi Bristol wedding will be someitme in mid October. Probably in Branson, MO. Big media event! Who does not love a wedding! Are you people anti-marriage and anti-family?

Journalists that do not toe the line will not be invited.

POW POW POW POW

I don't how you can say such mean things about Peggy Noonan. John McCain was a POW and leave Bristol alone.

How dare you suggest that Mike Murphy is anything but behind his mavericky friend, John McCain. Don't you remember 9/11?

Is this a promise?

When Sarah Palin said:

"winning is survival, and defeat means death."

did she mean she'd kill herself?

This all or nothing approach epitomizes the Republican way. No hint of bi-partisanship.

Enough already. This is NOT country first, its party first.

Diminished VP?

"It seems equally implausible that in a McCain-Palin administration, the vice president's office would be an outside-the-law power center running its own foreign policy. Palin is not a traditional vice-presidential nominee, but if elected she is apt to mark a return to a modest conception of the office that had been the butt of jokes for nearly two centuries. "

Do you have anything, besides your own opinion, to back up that statement, whatsoever?

We have no idea who her staff will be. If its a bunch of neocons I have EVERY reason to believe the vp's office will continue to operate exactly as it has. Its allowed many of these failed policies to proceed with no accountability.

I think your assertion is totally niave. Stop listening to what they have to say and start looking at what they are doing. Their behavior is a more accurate predictor - they will say anything to get elected.

Oprah's one smart cookie

It amazes me how little everyone understands how television works in this country. What is masterful about Oprah is her relationship with her audience.

And the stations that carry Oprah are not going to fight her. In most markets Oprah is the lead-in to their afternoon news and they all win that time slot. So the station makes money broadacasting the Oprah Winfrey Show, then can command a premium for their local news.

Going after Palin

Why not try her record?

Proclain loudly each lie - like the jet myth

Why not challenge why she's afraid to answer questions?

Go after her propagandists, that say we don't need to know anything....Jay Carney lost his gonads here:

Is there anyone doing rapid response for Obama?

Are you appearing on TV still Joan?

Nicole Wallace

showed exactly her respect for those tough reporters (and the American people as well):

Nate at 538 has a good essay about Sara Palin's role:

It does appear some of them seem to want things to be different, but it seems to me now the Democrats need to make their own news rather than relying the press do their jobs.

Rush Limbaugh and the RW Noise Machine

This seems to be a strength of the Republicans - they use it to smear and frame the debate. Is there anything we can do to weaken it?

POW

John McCain was a POW. How dare you. The outrage.

None of this is new news. Appearing in the Wall Street Journal is a good thing, but I doubt it will make much difference until it gets play on the TV.

Bipartisanship

I've noticed how much the political press longs for bipartisanship, but never accurately reports on casuses the current partisanship. But I realized they want the democrats to make the same comprimise they did.

Greenwaldian as an insult

Reality Kid -

Even if its meant as a put down,I think it says more about them than Glenn. They still don't realize that Glenn's product is in ascendance and theirs headed to the trash heap. In any event we can wear their put down with pride. Kinda like "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was intended as an insult but beacme an anthem.

Who's running?

Who's running for President? McCain? Doesn't seem like it to me now.

I have an important question - wjat kind of lipstick does he wear?

Cat vs Roomba

I don't know how you could make such a cynical statement on 9/11. John McCain spent 5 years as a POW,a dn stop being such a sexist, lidstick wearing pig.

Original article: "The Women"

Is there a fashion show in the middle?

I've seen the ads and from them concluded that I will probably see the movie, but on DVD at some point. I think its a challenging story to update - the characters are so oversized, nad in a vernacular thats not used in movies now. It seems that women now have to be hot at all stages of life, hot young lady, hot mother, hot middle aged woman, hot grandma. No more broads, battle axes, dowagers.

I think the original story would be considered un PC, but I still think it applies for some. Can a woman still love and want to be married to a man that has dalliances? The statistics would say yes.
