Fuck you both.

Rank stupidity

From a CNN article:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/04/obama.health.care/

A Democratic source close to the process told CNN Friday that the White House was very conscious of the potential congressional fallout: "How do you [get the deal passed] without a revolt in the House? It can be done, but very delicately."

The bottom line, said the source, is that the president would have to "move to the center" on the issue eventually, "and it's not a bad thing to have liberals screaming at him." That development will help sell the deal to Americans and "convince them it's a good, moderate deal, if liberals are mad."

Doesn't that just say it all? Does anyone in the world really think that this fucking president has anything but contempt for the democratic wing of the democratic party? The very people that raised record levels of money for his campaign in small donations, the people that knocked on doors to get him elected?

So Rahmbo and President Bait and Switch think not only that the progressives are utterly disposable, but also that the left's opposition to the administration's vicious, corporate-caressing policies actually make the president look good! Yup, he has the balls to "stare down" those hated "liberals."

Meanwhile, the right-wing loonies continue to eat his lunch. Obama: an asshole who will (almost) never (without a frikkin lawsuit) do the right thing and has all the political acuity of a garden slug.

omooex, I looked at Sirota's article

and I have to say, this is about as sharp and correct a comment on the stupidity of this administration as any I've ever seen:

Jones being forced out will not mollify the racists, crazies, tea baggers, Republican congresspeople and other assorted conservative freakshows - it will only embolden them. When lynch mobs in the Old South lynched someone, when a witchhunting band caught a target in Salem, when HUAC "proved" the supposed communism of its victims, that didn't calm them down - it only intensified their bloodlust because it made them believe they could be even more successful in the future.

So if the White House's political "gurus" believe booting Jones was the safe and prudent way to mitigate right-wing hatred, then they are as short-sighted and stupid as they've proven themselves to be in mismanaging the summer's health care debate. Seriously, folks - if you think you can appease or mollify someone who takes to the public airwaves and does this, then you are as crazy as that screaming lunatic is.

We can expect much more, and more intense, screeching insanity from the right.

You know, on February 21, 2008, Samantha Power was on Charlie Rose and she compared Barack Obama to Sergio Vieira de Mello, about whom she was writing a book. This is what she said about Obama:

This would be Sergio's lesson: if you are not thinking in terms of both dignity and freedom from fear, and this is the other thing Obama has come back to, the old Rooseveltian idea. Obama has tried to run a campaign that moves us out of the politics of fear. He is also very sensitive to the degree to which, and Sergio uses this line, "fear is a bad adviser." This is a line that could have come out of Obama's mouth, though happened to come out of Sergio's mouth. We make bad judgments when we are afraid.

I think Power lives in Opposite Land. Could anyone be more precisely wrong? Comparing Obama to Roosevelt? Laughable.

coram nobis

The fact that Obama has given that mofo Glenn Beck a boost is one of the most disgusting parts of this whole thing.

Beck has indeed got the wind back in his sails: I read at Kos that Beck sent out a tweet asking all of his viewers to send everything they can find on three of Obama's other nominees. So he is clearly gearing up for more attacks.

Thanks Obama. As Dr. Zachary Smith would say, you Cowardly Clump.

Why do I read DKos? Why, why, why?

Gah! They all have their undies on fire because a couple of Obama's mouthpieces said he "expects" the public option to be in the bill.

"Expects"? What the hell is that? Did he say he's veto a bill without the PO? NO. Did he say he was going to "fight" for the PO? NO.

But they all "trust" Obama to, uh, talk positively about the PO, or some shit, I don't know what. They say that fighting is "not his way." I tried to correct their little pea brains on that, asked them if they remember what he did to progressives who didn't want to vote for war funding. They seem to have missed all that. They say that using the word "expect" is VERY FORCEFUL, in fact, the strongest language they've seen!

Talk about lowered expectations. No wonder Obama gets away with this shit.

coram nobis, you see what you did? You got me going with the scatological stuff. :)

I would like to see an illustration of Obama's multidimensional chess moves on the health care board! Post it over at DKos--they'll eat it up.
