I could die happy if just one of those torture-program bastards were whisked away to The Hague while on some boozy vacation. Oh, how I long for justice.
Oh, snap.
That's how you answer the illegitimate grandson of an alligator.
As someone mentioned yesterday, the babyfaced, crypto-fascist, former head of the Christian Coalition has been spending his time defending the practice of torture with Sean Hannity.
Here is the jist of what he said:
Waterboarding–well, it was only for 30-40 seconds at a time, pffft. And you know, we only did it to the three worst terrists. And by the way, the waterboarding led to accurate info!No one was sleep deprived for more than 72 hours. I did more than that cramming for exams in grad school . . . chuckle guffaw
And let’s put this in context — there are attacks being planned right now, and torturing keeps us safe, and the torturers should be honored, not humiliated . . .
I bet that Reed's exemplary demonstration of Christian values draws many good people to the flock.

I agree with you that Cheney's a coward, but what that has to do with the clothes women wear is beyond me. If you want to demote him somehow, then put him back in short pants and keep it in your own gender cause that bastard isn't man enough to be a woman.
Right on, my friend. Another appalling thing that I have seen that supports a gender-based hierarchy of value is the use of the "c-bomb" to suggest the lowest of the low. Why the female genitals are metaphorical of something much darker and more sinister and evil than are the male genitals is beyond me.
And they were overwhelmingly and highly critical of Meacham. I particularly liked this--
. . . Efficacy of rendition and torture is irrelevant to their legality. The salient issue is whether, or not, this nation has the fortitude to enforce our laws on politically powerful people. Meacham is still fumbling with the proposition that ends may somehow justify means. The deficiencies in his morality and patriotism are evident from his analysis of this issue.
--because throughout the Bush administration's tenure, those of us who dissented almost always had our patriotism questioned.
I would love to see a loud and persistent questioning of the patriotism of the torturers and their pals and enablers in the press.
but the 11-dimensional chess fantasy game player wiped the smile right off my face. Gah, this is just going to encourage them.
Nevertheless, great news!

This is a joke, right? Performance art.
Because dcarmack and the other fabulists, you cannot be serious. I am checking DKos frequently to see the next installment of this performance art.
offers a take on the right wing and torture, in his own inimitable way:
The current threat of a pandemic has probably caused a sigh of relief to arise from some Republican circles (or circle jerks). Only last week, Republicans warned that this nation was going to come crashing down around our collective ankles if any members of the current administration investigated any former government officials who sanctioned torture.
Sure. We tortured. By, let's let bygones be bygones. To do anything else would make us look like...a second rate banana republic! (Because, as we all know, torturing prisoners is the hallmark of sophisticated societies.)
Glenn Beck nearly wept over the prospect of, uh, justice. "This is what banana republics do!"
"The Wall Street Journal" sniffed, "This (possible war crimes investigations) is what happens in Argentina, Malaysia or Peru, countries where the law is treated merely as an extension of political power."
(There will be a slight pause here for a double-irony shot as we ponder the judicial origins of the torture memos.)
Karl Rove, Mr. Constitution hisself, went the speechifying stigmata route, stating "We're going to turn ourselves into the moral equivalent of a Latin American country run by colonels in mirrored sunglasses - That might be fine in some little Latin American country that's run by, you know, the latest junta - It may be the way that they do things in Chicago, but that's not the way we do things here in America."
Well, technically, he has a point. It's the way they do things in Nuremberg.
The subtly named web site "Stop The ACLU" ("Beating them with their own sickle and hammer.") re-christened our country "The Banana Republic of America."
Either all these folks are really into product placement or their heads are so far up their asses that they use their navels as a peephole.

That was from Ed Naha, not Matt Taibbi.
Sorry about the mixup. But I have the frikkin swine flu.
I'm not going to say anything bad about Michael Scherer for at least three weeks because of that excellent question he just asked.
Jake Tapper's question was also good. He'll have a two-week immunity.
Hee hee hee!
Right on! Good for you, man.

omooex: good for you! Don't worry, I am a late bloomer, too. You tend to appreciate your education more is all. And there are lots of non-traditional students out there.
DCLaw, I have heard that there is actually just one fruitcake in the entire world, and it keeps getting regifted.
I wonder if there is just one ObamaZombie in the world, and s/he has a million sock puppets. What a great gift to all of us here.
Your evidence suggests there is just one fruitcake at UT!
Blech, fruitcake.
