Trust me on this
[Read the article: Clinton "more determined than ever to carry on this campaign"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The deals and the process and everything have already been worked out.
This tone from Hillary is more respectful and conciliatory than any i've heard in this entire campaign.
It's because whatever deals are going to happen after June 3rd, they've already been placed on the table, if not settled. I've detected a change in tone from her campaign for about 4-5 days now.
McAuliffe, Carville, Wolsfon. Then big boys like Kennedy, Dodd, Richardson, Edwards all of a sudden making multiple appearances ALL seeming VERY sure this will be over shortly after June 3rd.
Of course she's going to put out the normal spin. She's still running. She's trying to raise money to offset as much as she can because she knows it will Obama's supporters who will have to foot the bill and we cannot squander it (its still largely untapped) because Dems need that mountain of cash in the general.
Of course she's going to run the electibility argument. Her supporters LOVE her and even sane Obama supporters don't want to see her quit. Its important to keep up the energy and excitement and minimize anger and resentment and that means (at this late juncture) to finish out the primaries.
But trust me about it: the deals are done. Everyone already knows what's next. A united and energized Democratic party and an end to Republican tyranny.

( AKA) Her strongest argument now...
[Read the article: She's still in it to win it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]is for the joint ticket. I agree with you but won't say neither could win without the other...i'll say either would have an uphill battle to November without the other.
IF the super overturn the delegate counts (which they are permitted to do) Hillary would have an uphill battle convincing youth and normally uninvolved new AA registrants to support her. Even with Barak on the ticket. It could be done, and i think ultimately would be successful for the most part, but it would be an uphill battle. She'd need every one of them due to increased expected turnout of republicans voting against Hillary (ie. for McCain)
IF the supers go with the Obama, the candidate who has won the greatest number of delegates, he will have an uphill battle attracting voters who normally vote for Hillary. I believe he could get the majority of the voters (not the blantant racists but I don't believe Hillary would get them either when stacked against McCain).
Right now the supers are weighing essentially whether losing those who would never vote for a black man, even when matched against McCain's inferior policies, can or would be compensated for by increased numbers of new voters combined with the reliables.
Its a tough question to answer since we've never faced this before. Same deal if Hillary was the nominee. Will we be able to maintain those high numbers of voters and would those numbers compensate for the increase in republican turnout?
Bottom line. And I know no one likes to hear this but the only way to GUARANTEE the win in November is with them BOTH on the ticket. Anything else on either side is pure guessing. IMO Hillary has strengthened her argument for the VP slot.
For me, an Obama supporter, I realize there are major philosophical differences between them. But their POLICIES are virtually the same. That's important. A VP should be able to continue the policies of a dead or incapacitated president. I'm confident should would do that should 'something' happen to Obama during his presidency. I favor him at the TOP of the ticket because of he's won the majority of the delegates and because of the way he's run his campaign (indicates good fiscal and management skill and strong leadership) and because I think the tone of his message should be the guiding tone of the next administration (that is, involvement, transparency, accountability).
IMO Hillary has strengthened her argument for inclusion. And Obama has always said he has NOT ruled her out.

[Read the article: She's still in it to win it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I always respect what you have to say but I don't think this is going to the convention. Without them together on a ticket, which doesn't look overly likely, both of them would need all the time possible to sure up the other's constituency before November. Waiting until August hurts whichever one is the nominee, no doubt about it.

I've said it before...and here'e the proof...
[Read the article: Edwards announces his support for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The party and its big wigs have already decided what will happen. The deals have been struck and the end is near. I've been saying it for several days and I noticed a distinct change in tone about 5 or 6 days ago.
This slow trickle of supers to Obama, the constant praise of Hillary, is giving her the respect she deserves, and time for her supporters to slowly come to terms with this inevitability. It would be much "better" for the party's unity than that mass migration everyone expected. Plus it gives Hillary (who is a party to these deals, btw) time to play this thing out through the end. Something i feel she should do. Its important. Its historical.
Over the next three weeks her supporters will have the time to get used to it slowly. The party big wigs will continue their gradual migration and push party unity really really hard. Its actually a very smart plan, IMO. A mass defection would have engendered greater bitterness and not been respectful of Senator Clinton who, by any account, has worked hard in politics and will have great continued influence in the party and in Washington.
Even Hillary said on CNN tonight that she expects that we'll know a lot more on the 4th. She even said she did not see this going to the convention (WOW!)
I'm telling you, they've all decided what they are going to do. Everybody just sit tight. We're just about ready to boot Bush and his repugs OUT of the White House and Congress and take this country back!
