let's not forget
[Read the article: Obama Veepstakes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the VP needs to be someone who will carry on the president's policies (and have the ability to be an executive) should the president be unable to govern.
Webb? Clark? OK so they are war heros or whatever but if Barak was killed or couldn't govern is this who you want as president? What are their positions? What would they do about say, health care or energy policy or education?
As much as I hate to keep coming back to it, I think Hillary should be a serious consideration for him. She's got warts and all but at least she already COMES with a support base we know we'll need and we know their policies are nearly identical.
Specific darts thrown by Republicans won't matter and appointment to cabinet where you could use a strong military person won't matter in the general either because between Hillary and Barak, we would already HAVE everything we need to win the White House. It would just be a matter of coming across as sufficiently competent (which they have BOTH already done) until the election day. Both already have such strong strong support i'm not sure who would be left for the republicans to try to "get".

[Read the article: RNC debuts attack against Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]DNC has launched two natrional ads. They ve been running for at least two weeks now. To get updates do to DNCs website and sign up for newsletter updates/ You'll get them before they come out.
The first ad attacked him as GW 2.0 and the other was his repeated statements about everything in the US being fine and things looking great. (maytbe it was the other way around) But DNC is on it baby.

Not to worry
[Read the article: RNC debuts attack against Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]this is going to be just fine.
If this is where they're coming from, i love it.
Incidentally, the attacks would be virtually the same no matter if it was Clinton OR Obama.
Experience: they'd say clinton has two terms as senator and the wife of the dreaded BILL CLINTON
Votes: they'd attack Clinton's voting and legislative record to because she didn't vote for Bush's favorites
Its nice to know that this is where its coming from and this is basically what they'd no matter which of the candidates was on the ticket.
Bottom Line: The are sensing that our primary is about to be OVER and they are trying to get the jump on things. Unfortunately for them, this may be the best shot they've got to get their message out there. Once we're done and unified, it will an unending blitz.
BTW anyone considered that PERHAPS this new spate of attacks might actually server to HELP unify the party before we even end the primary??? Huuummm???

[Read the article: RNC debuts attack against Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]any add will resonate with some portion of the public. So What? The weakness of this ad is that every question can be addressed directly by Obama and whihc lead to a discussion of the real policy differences between McCain and Obama. Its exciting because despite the smears that will be broadcast by 527s on both sides, it will ultimately boil down to ISSUES this time.
AND i think his answers will make sense to people IF he explains them in a non-wonky, everyday man way.
For example: in response to why he voted 130 time "present". ..rather than say because the bill were poorly written which won't mean jack shit to the average person, he should say something like "The XYZ bill that was presented to us included an unrelated request for ABC....This is sometimes the way government works and why its so hard fo rthinsg to get done. I Would have voted YES is it was XYZ by itself. But when they tried to sneak in ABC, it made the bill a bad one. Saying PRESENT was my way of indicating that I liked the purpose of the bill but that it needed to be more straightforward." People will "GET" that.
Or even better: "you know how someone wants you to do something they know you want to do so they attach some sort of string to it that THEY want? Well, my saying PRESENT was my way of saying I want what's in the bill but NOT the other crap you put in there with it."

Hurting only herself
[Read the article: Clinton makes another electability argument]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Really the supers are only holding out until June 3rd to create the appearance of fairness. Its about the PARTY. If we're sick of it and can see through these transparently desparate tactics that are getting worse with time, I'm sure the suppers are sick of the onslaught.
But interestingly enough, i think she is very short sighted and while i don't ascribe any malicious attempt to derail Obama in November I do think she has demonstrated a piece-by-piece mentality and method throughout this campaign. Surely it is rooted in the fact that traditionally we Americans have indeed had short memories and human in general remember what they want to. Politician have been able to do this in the past with great success. Problem is that in the 21st century, it just not possible.
But most sadly, while I think that had she taken the high road she might have afforded herself a "safety blanket" of a VP offer (no shabby thing). Obama was very careful never to speak ill of her during this entire time - IMO for that exact reason, just in case. But now she's seemingly squandered that too.
