So far the CNN/YouTUbe debates
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]contained the most substantive questions...
I agree we should banish the *journalists* and their stupid questions. From what I see on this board and elsewhere the American Public is more well read and researched and informed and in a better position to ask TOUGH questions than the journalists and pundits.
How about a debate BY the people?
OH! And I LIKE the idea of one topic per debate. It allows us to get into depth about the issues that are important.
Is there a possibility we might force this type of format?

The debate is ruled by extremists on both sides
[Read the article: Anti-abortion, pro-Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Nutty pro-lifers who oppose contraception, sex ed, stem cell research (the slippery slope) and equally nutty pro-choicers who oppose ANY restrictions on abortions (what? even a fetus at 7 months gestation??!)
The VAST majority of americans, regardless of what they call themselves, are somewhere in teh middle of the two extremes.
The majority of us WANT comprehensive sex ed, contraception availability, stem cell research, the option to abort a fetus (up to a point) and the responsible presentation of various options to abortion, including adoption and child rearing. The majority of us want abortions to be safe, legal and rare and it doesn't matter what you label it.
I consider myself pro-choice. I want stem cell, contraception, safe legal abortion etc but I draw the line at abortions in late term because to me, at that point its not just the life of the mother to consider (I define later-term as any point at which the fetus stands a better than 50% chance of being viable outside the womb...an ever-changing bar as we make scientific advancements in the care of premature babies).
I am frustrated with my pro-choice brothers and sister for not seeming to want any restrictions on abortion (fearing a slipper slope if we ban late term abortions or whatever) and I am equally frustrated with pro-lifers (even the more reasonable ones) who somehow think stem cell research is a slippery slope to ???? more abortions.
Weird.
SIGH.

tango
[Read the article: How to interpret a dead-even horse race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]not to worry. Think of it this way...McCain is running around preaching to the converted. He spits out his policies to his own people and supporters and they clap and call him GREAT. The media, wusses that they are, suck up to him and don't challenge him the way they do Clinton or Obama. McCain could say damn near ANYTHING and nothing would happen. But Let a Dem say one think wrong, BAM!
The good news in this is that he has a chance to solidify and memorialize his bad ideas. He is being lulled into a false sense of security. (Remember this is the same guy who literally said only a few weeks ago the economy isn't his strong suit. He said this amidst a flailing economy 0 a sure indication he hasn't a clue). So let him keep being clueless. Let him repeat his stupid over and over and over at every campaign stop so he can't weasel out of it by saying he misspoke or something think that.
Its all good. Don't worry.

I don't see what the big deal is...
[Read the article: Hannity's unfortunate role in the Democratic debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Seriously. OK so what the media suck, we know that. But I'd rather Obama address it now. I love that it comes from the right - they are revealing their strategy. Ayers, Wright, Flag Pin, Elitism.
Perfect. We've got lots of time to work it.
(Besides, is this all they have? Tie in Rezco if want. If so, i think that's GREAT. McCain is dirtier than a pig in s**t, doesn't know WTF he's talking about and has some serious flip-flop issues going on).
NO I am NOT upset they revealed their strategy. And frankly I hope the voters of PA and beyond show the REPUBLICANS that those tricks didn't quite work as well as they would have liked them to. (won't prevent them from using them in the general but I'm not feeling offended by the questions, as irrelevant as they were).

Foolproof Troll Detection Method
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Now now. Calm down. There's no need to go and get yourselves worked into a lather.
If you're just dropping by PLEASe be advised we have some trolls on this board. They purposely say inflammatory things with NO though for reason or rationale.
The rest of us, Obama and Clinton supporters, however fervent, tend to display some degree of reason. Now, you may not agree with the reasons on the other camp, but they have them. Trolls do not.
NUMBER ONE most trolls say they are democrats but will be happy to vote for McCain if their nominee fails. This is called a Republican Troll. Its purpose is to rile up the enemy camp. Ignore them completely. DO NOT respond. (its hard but really... its worth it. They go away when you do that, trust me).
Most honest dems say they will willingly pull the lever for the dem on the ticket. Even those who are ardent in support for their candidate may say they will hold their nose, but vote dem they will. Troll do not do this. Think about it. Really? McCain over the dem candidate? THAT is not a dem. Don't waste time arguing about supreme court justices and all the other shit. They are republicans. Their goal is to make you think the other side is unreasonable and vapid. This is largely untrue.
So in review:
If a poster says he/she is a dem and will vote for McCain, its a lie. (well the McCain part is anyway).
If a poster seems to use language or make implications no dem would use like BUCKWHEAT or BARAK HUSSEIN, come on...this is not a Democrat, nor a Hillary supporter.
If a poster seems to just offer up posts that serve no purpose other to inflame, its a troll, Let it ride.
Ignore them. They DO go away, if only temporarily. No one likes to argue alone.

[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
