@ Liberty or Death
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton makes her stand in Ohio]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree and three pages ago suggested that we begin to DO SOMETHING about this - we the people can send a message to the candidates that they BOTH a responsibility to the party and we can urge them to work this out in a way that doesn't destroy the party in the interest of the final goal (beating McCain).
So much for reason. No one seems to even care about that. People are still fussing about bullshit. Seems to me everyone has made up their minds who they will vote for (which is fine) but its more important to be right than to do anything else.
This really sucks. Grow up everybody and lets do something productive!

Here here! Quit it! You're not doing ANYONE any good!
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton makes her stand in Ohio]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hey, please check this out (for those level headed people of reason) and pass it on or try to get it some traction....
We HAVE to take action to end this self-destructive streak happening in the party.
I'm only one person but maybe we can gain some notice if the right people get wind of something like this:

Watch FOX News for a change
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton makes her stand in Ohio]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I do and i'll tell you something: they said that Texas were being urged to vote for Hillary in order to prolong the cat-fight. I was shocked b/c all you hear about on these boards in about how Repubs are voting for Obama in hopes to advance him to a mangling in November.
Another thing they mentioned was that McCain plans to go after indpendents in California and other blue states. We had better figure out how we're gonna wine this.
It also seemed to me that in all their commentary about teh democratic primaries, it seems like they were taking glee in seeing Hillary in the situtaion she's in.
We had better not underestimate how thoroughly they hate her, rightly or wrongly.
Watch FOX every now and again. Its interesting.

@ljwalker
[Read the article: The numbers crunch Hillary in Texas]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I feel you. And I'm an Obama supporter! I think its gotten ridiculous on BOTH sides here over the last few days. Some people are just argumentative for arguing's sake.
Not sure anymore if dems will be successful in Novemeber (frankly I think Hillary needs Obama, and Obama needs Hillary...it seems obvious to me, but who the hell am I)? We're making a b-line for the losers circle of these candidates don't consolidate and run together.
But for what it's worth, barring the introduction of REASON from....somewhere...(i.e. BOTH candidates run on the same ticket), I will say that many people on here are completely out of control. Just ignore it. The rest of us have made up our minds, and even though we might disagree on our preferred candidate, we are committed to doing what we must (i.e. vote democratic) to prevent a McCain win (which at this point...looks more and more likely to me).
Cheers!

Another problem...
[Read the article: Election results: Who's ahead in the delegate race?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What woudl be considered a CLEAR voice of the people? How do we determine that? Would a difference of 100 pledged delegates? 200? Do we look at the popular votes? If so, what 'spread' is needed to determine an overwhelming 'voice'? 250,000? 1,000,000? 2,000,000?
This is troublesome. HALF of voters like Clinton, HALF like Obama, essentially. There are NO easy answers to this except...
...put Obama and Clinton on the same freakin' ticket! Let's urge the superdelegates to use their powers for good and not for evil. After all, we have to bring the party together. The repib sure have...and pretty quickly. We're in trouble.

@amity
[Read the article: It ain't over yet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I generally agree with you. However, IMO i think the fear is that we, as the electorate, are splitting up. People are digging in their heels for their candidate more and more with each passing day and i think the fear is that psychologically people will be SO opposed to the 'other guy' by the time it gets to convention that we will be unable to unify. A cursory glance at this board where so-called reasonable people meet should be evidence enough of that.
Like it or lump it. Hillary OR Obama will have a tough race against McCain in the fall. Hillary because the Republicans simply hate her (you should see the glee they take when she stumbles - its astounding) and will mobilize their base like McCain has, so far, been unable to do, and Obama because of his MUCH lighter resume compared to McCain. Like it or lump it we will need the entire Democratic electorate to turn out in order to achieve victory in November. Right now we have literally a 50/50 split of the will of the democratic electorate. Winning in November will require us to be reasonable and vote for whomever the nominee is, even if its not 'our guy' because McCain is planning aggressive campaigns in 'our states' (he said so last night) where he may, depending on world conditions, be able to squeeze the moderate and independent vote from us. (He is really a moderate running as a republican. Now that he has the nomination, he'll veer slightly center).
We cannot take a chance on a McCain presidency.
Because of this, in recent days I have called for a combined Clinton-Obama ticket (nd BTW I am an Obama supporter).
Benefits (let's be honest for a moment):
-Solidifies and electrifies the party immediately
-Gets us geared up to beat McCain
-Hillary's shortcomings are Obama's strengths
-Obama's shortcomings are Hillary's strengths
-Their policies are 97% similar and 100% opposed to McCain's policies
-Virtually guarantees a win November AND 16 years 'rule'
- The republicans would panic wildly (trust me, I watch Fox news for perspective - right now, they salivate)
A protracted race IMO is not good for the party right now. But I'm not hopeful that this will happen because at this point I think ego in both camps and an unwillingness to examine things objectively for the good of the party is preventing it.
And we'll probably lose in November unless whomever the nominee is selects the OTHER as VP.
