  • Lifelong Indie, well actually libertarian

[Read the article: How will it all end?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am a 40 year old lifelong indie (who calls herself a libertarian) who has voted both dem and repub in my life.

I own and run a successful business. I'm black and female. No kids. Married. College degreed.

This primary season I am supporting Obama (I live in Florida and so....plus is an listed as an independent). However, if Hillary were to win the nomination I will vote for her. I disagree with some of her policy points and i wish she had less baggage (I really really REALLY don't like the Clintons - to me, they are calculating and disingenuous - and always have been) BUT I cannot imagine McCain (Mr. "100 year war") in the white house. HE is temperamental (read: codgety, as in, old man) and unpredictable. He represents 'more of the same' of the woefully failed policies of the BUSH administration...the same attitude, the same arrogance. I cannot imagine our country with more of THAT. (Believe me, hubby and I are looking for real estate VIRTUALLY ANYWHERE ELSE if he get elected!).

By and large (polls show) that 70%+ of Obama AND Clinton supporters will rally behind the Dem Nominee. And I think that's true because as they have BOTH said, despite our differences, we have more in common with each other than with the repubs (McCain). McCain will only be able to sway indies who are OK with his war policy. Some ARE OK with it. I think the majority, however, are not. And the truth is, if he was FOR ending the war in 2009 (as are Clinton and Obama), I'd likely vote for him since my Libertarian leanings often lead me to the LESS government camp.

But this war has me furious and I'm going Dem this election. Clinton would do well, Obama would also do well. I'm behind whomever gets the nomination.
