Christian charlatans

so wait, if there's no actual people running the place who are legitimate nurses/doctors, registered with the state or whatever, can't they be arrested for impersonating such professionals?

(If not, hey! cool! put on a smock, walk into the nearest hospital, and start performing surgeries.)

OK so individual Christian charlatans can be arrested. Or at the very least, sued. As they should be.

Every medical professional I've ever seen has been willing to refer me to some other kind of practitioner, even if they are a competitor or rival. That's Hippocratic oath. That's a commitment to truth that I appreciate and expect from professionals.

Delaying dealing with a pregnancy simply pushes it into the 2nd or 3rd trimester, so they can turn it into an abortion that's harder to do, so they can make political fodder about it. Ruining a person's life, all for political purposes.

All those stats about how people think abortion shouldn't be legal or whatever, nobody asked anybody who was pregnant and had to get an abortion. PP asks women who come in for an abortion, How did you hear about us? And they reply, I used to be a protester. OK so people's opinions change when it's THEIR life that's getting ruined.

station them in Korea

I remember there was a rule during WW2 that excluded soldiers from fighting in certain places based on their ethnic background. German-Americans were sent to the Pacific; Japanese -Americans were sent to Europe. Italian-Americans who were in the North Africa invasion got transferred to somewhere else rather than moving on to Italy with the rest of the American forces.

So why can't we take Moslem soldiers and station them in Korea or Guam or Japan? There's lots of bases all over the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_military_bases

And as someone else said, getting rid of gay soldiers seems particularly stupid at this point.

it's the feud, not reality

yeah, I'm really glad that the WH has formally declared the Fox/Obama feud. Because it's been going on since inauguration, and it's not fair to rip the arms off of one of the players.

Now, when Fox says something trashing Obama, people can understand it's the feud, not reality.

Probably this started out as some journalist was told by a friend who's the mail guy somewhere in Washington, not to go on Fox. Now the WH has to deny it.

Ma Bell's butt

AT&T is the main reason I haven't gotten an iPhone. An Apple employee I talked to about a year ago said, don't hold your breath on Apple opening it up. Here's the next generation of computing, and it's suffocating under Ma Bell's butt.

kids on a shoestring

Walking around town, I recently ran into some tourists. Young women who barely spoke any english. They struggled to get out some word mwoeioiuefihsd something.... oh OH! McDonalds! Yeah, that's it, McDonalds.

Well... hmmm... this town doesn't actually have very many of those. (SF, ca). Can't remember the last time I walked by one. I don't really notice. Were they outlawed? big restaurant business in this town. can't remember.

That turned into a shrug. Hey, there's lots of other places to eat around here! No, they wanted McDonalds. If you want Hamburgers, there's Sparky's right down that street, open 24 hours! No, they wanted McDonalds. thankyou! gbye!

They were foreign tourists, maybe eastern europe, kids on a shoestring budget, and they needed the cheapest possible food. I guess that's it, or at least that's the perception.

Congratulations to Iceland and their agribusiness!

democracy and the american way

I wish it was better than 52% to 40%. I wish it was better than 52%. Out of 8 people, 4 want public option, 3 don't, and 1 is undecided. Noticable but not overwhelming. But you can blame that on the Death Panels crap.

But I'm really glad this is happening. We have to hit congress where it hurts if they're not going to do our bidding. That's just democracy and the american way.

dollars per press release

ALGORE stands to make millions from his hype, the UN is ready to shake down the free world to get theirs, and we the taxpaying citizens of America will get the bill.

Well, really, look at where the money is. And look at who is going to get shaken down.

Big oil companies make Billions every year. Same for coal and natural gas companies. what, was it Exxon or somebody who profited $40B a few years ago? These are the guys who stand to lose from climate change legislation. How many senate votes can you buy for just $1B?

OK, the United Nations budget is $2B per year. That's it. Algore's buget... much smaller, don't worry about it. If he makes $10M, no big deal, drop in the bucket.

So expect this in the press: for every 2 articles about how climate change is a problem, expect 40 that say it's a hoax. (OK really sloppy calculations there, add up all the oil+coal+gas profits, must be more than $100B... versus UN+other organizations that live off of charity... maybe that adds up to $3B/year. I'm talking order of magnitude here.)

This, I think, is the most important calculation one can do to figure out who's full of shit. And all you need is a calculator and Google.

coathanger

The choice people should counter with a talking coathanger. It should have a French accent and talk like a pickup artist. "And when ze cannot find a doctor, ze come to me. Ze always come to me!"

I think the coathanger is the image, at least politically. If you don't get it, you think about it. When you get it, it gives you this sick feeling.
