Long before this fantasy ever happens, the rich will have started WWIII in a futile attempt to maintain the status quo as the cheap oil-based society that has enriched them collapses. Once that flow stops everything goes kaput. Almost no one lives on a farm anymore, where they might be able to sustain themselves from what they can grow on their own little patch of earth. When the supermarket shelves go empty because truckers can no longer afford to haul goods to it, it's instant starvation time for millions.
