For $1000+ an hour...

...this "musician" had better be able to play "Flight Of The Bumblebee" -- on the flute.

I fear that the truth is...

...no matter who the Democrats put up as a candidate, liberals have simply lost the ability to win a debate or an election.

Jesus, the right wing already has Obama groveling and apologizing -- and not for anything he said, but for what his pastor said! The fact that his pastor spoke a lot of truth was irrelevant. He gave the appearance of being -- dare I say it -- unpatriotic. Unpatriotic, that is, as defined by the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, et al.

Which is presicely the point. The debate is now controlled by the right wing because the left wing has become a captive to its own PC speech policies. The right still has that old take-no-prisoners attitude and it correctly recognizes the left's weakness in this area. They've also made good use of the left's ridiculous belief that everyone's opinion is of equal value by blurring the very line between fact and opinion, to the point where many -- if not most -- can no longer even tell the difference.

The airwaves are full of Limbaugh, Hannity and Coulter-types and their radical, most assuredly non-PC thoughts, while the internet and bookstores are rife with their over-the-top screeds. Meanwhile, the left, by putting on a PC hair shirt, behaves as though we all live on Sesame Street. Unfortunately, the real world is not a place "where the air is sweet" and "everything's A-OK". The right wing just laughs and uses this knowledge to crush the left wing at every turn. They bring brass knuckles and sawed-off shotguns to the party, while the left brings mineral water and healthy snacks.

Any gains made by progressives have been hard fought. Authority has been boldly challenged. Heads have been cracked and blood has flowed. We are now witnessing the triumphs thus achieved fall by the wayside as liberals, who have apparently wandered off into Fantasyland, scratch their heads and wonder why public life and the media seem to be dominated by the right wing -- and why the word "liberal" itself has become an epithet. Liberals have become so concerned with not offending anyone's delicate sensibilities that they've not only forgotten how to throw a punch, but how to take one. Meaningful discourse is thus stifled under a smothering blanket of good manners and sickening niceness. Mediocrity has triumphed. Universities, perhaps the last bastion of liberal thought, at once "celebrate diversity" while the PC environment they create demands a level of conformity that would be the envy of any totalitarian regime.

Gee, maybe I just need some Ritalin and a time out.

"Now remember, if things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is."

Original article: Five years of Iraq lies

So why are we still in Iraq?

And why haven't Bush, Cheney, et al, been impeached?

Oh, yeah -- the DEMOCRATS have not cut off funding and they took impeachment off the table.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Hillary or Obama to end this crime, either* -- even assuming the miracle that one of them will be elected. With gas prices hovering around $4/gal already and peak oil either here or very near, neither is going to give up our control over Iraq's oil reserves or all those permanent bases we're building.

That is, after all, why we're there.

Original article: Was Obama's speech enough?

It wasn't a speech - it was his own eulogy

Until liberals learn how to dogfight again (like the right wing never stopped doing), they will continue to lose the presidency. The biggest mistake Obama made was even entertaining questions about what SOME OTHER GUY said. His response to Hannity, et al, should've been a hearty "Go ask him! He said it, you worthless gasbag!" Instead, being the PC type that he is, he's trying to reason with them.

Milk and cookies vs. guns and knives. Guess who won?

As a liberal I am, frankly, ashamed.

Democrats can use all of the lofty rhetoric they want, but the majority of Americans will only listen -- and respect you -- if it's backed up by some fucking cojones.

"Americans are insensitive to philosophical ideas. They need something tangible, something concrete, something that has been acted on the stage. Acted, that is, seen and felt. What is said is not important. We are not impressed by explanations, and verbal play leaves us indifferent. What we want is action."

One More Reason Why I Love Cate

CATE BLANCHETT will not be getting a young lover any time soon.

The 37-year-old said she cringed with embarrassment when filming scenes for new film Notes On A Scandal, about a teacher's affair with a young pupil - played by 18-year-old ANDREW SIMPSON.

She told Source magazine: "It leaves you feeling very uncomfortable and I became incredibly prudish.

"Men take so much longer to mature and I could never even conceive of having a relationship with a much younger man."

She said she would prefer a man 20 years her senior instead "because older men have an attraction for women".
