Sex with a six year old is rape...when it's an older child. At the same age...it's definitely twisted, but I couldn't call it rape. Both perp and victim are still children whose faces haven't even been formed yet. Harsh judgment of either would be traumatizing and damaging to either child.
ES, I've noticed, does like to demonstrate to the rest of us how terribly painful our hypocrisy can be for one another to bear.
True to form, we have people calling for this guy's head when they haven't even met the man or had anything like a real face to face with him. Yes, he's probably weird, but so the f*k are you. You're here reading this s*t, aren't you?
As for Oscar Wilde being jailed for being gay -- okay, that's fairly harsh. I forgot.
However, with the internet, we can ruin someone's life in an instant without ever firing a shot. In some ways living as a social piriah is worse than just being executed. Especially if someone truly is a narcissist.
Do you people REALLY, TRULY believe in the deepest parts of yourself that you are equipped to judge ANYONE, or ANYTHING at ANY TIME???
History, especially the stuff that will be written about this period in our history, will CLEARLY answer that question, and it won't be in the affirmative.
We're chimpanzees with rocket launchers. At best. At worst we're seething battery operated reptiles who cause more damage and destruction during a single commercial break than most people cause in their entire lifetime.
The tragedy here is that I believe that if someone could calmly and firmly make a case to Eric Schaeffer that he missed a few years of therapy that he shouldn't have, he'd beat feet to correct his problem.
Somehow declaring this person a "sinner" and banishing him to obscurity is totally hypocritical.
I'm naive? No. You're just like all the defenders of truth out there who bang people they shouldn't and break taboos that are designed to indicate the presence of a disease process on the march. You're just like him. You're even on the same PLANET at the same period in history and you still do not get your smallness.
<<<<<<<<<<<< !! NEWFLASH !! >>>>>>>>>>>>
The truth doesn't need your defense. Quit flattering yourself and start asking yourself questions instead of judging other people based on incomplete information the majority of which is COMING OUT OF YOUR OWN CESSPOOL of a brain.
...is voluminous? Have you ever transcribed a five minute conversation? That's voluminous. This is pure pee-break prattle.
Interesting how folks who think they have a "moral compass" are just busily projecting their own neuroses onto other people. Keep congratulating yourself for scoring a, "hit," and keep looking at that compass you think is so accurate.
While you're at it, congratulate yourself for buying that map of Paris, Texas and convincing yourself that it's to get around your hometown of Paris, France. Between the compass and the map you should be able to lead a whole congress of people through the desert.
Don't want me along for the ride? Ah, shucks. Well, have fun, anyway! Bing PLENTY of sunblock.
All this claptrap saw me over at ES's blog to check things out for myself. Somewhat entertaining, but, yeah, I wonder how anyone could keep after this stuff day after day. I'd get bored. But no one's pounding on the door to publish any of my stuff, so, perhaps there we have it: you have to be nuttier than one of grandma's ol' tired fruitcakes to be in a position of self promotion in this globalized theatre of the absurd.
Massively traumatized? You don't know what you're talking about. Try showing up in a white labcoat in a Jewish old person's home and note the reactions of the residents with the blue numbers on their wrists. That would be massive traumatization.
Get some perspective, folks. You're on a planet that is less than a speck of dust in the middle of cold, dark nowhere. Are you going to deny the relevance of that perspective just because Al Gore seemed to say it first? Are you also going to ignore the yellow-hot ball of thermonuclear gas that both loves and hates everything you say you treasure?
That's right...wipe the important, relevant questions out of your mind and opt for the more pressing concern of precisely where, how, and at what angle ES puts his penis and into whom.
Go back to sleep, folks. Your government is in control.
...do more rhetorical analysis with other people's writing.
Do it until you learn to spot the difference between an appropriate application of rhetorical debate and a forensic sleight of hand.
I am intolerant of intolerance in a purely Karl-Popperian sense.
I have the same predisposition towards people who blithely glide through their lives proclaiming their possession of a thing they call, "judgment," when really all they have is, at best, an educated bias.
My evidence?
The evolutionary record. You do believe in that, don't you? Or do you believe that Adam and Eve lived during the time of the dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs possessed nothing as sophisticated as the self-doubting mechanisms we like to label human "judgment." Their kind lasted for several hundred million years on this planet.
Enter humanity into the fossil record, a species that lays claim to an extremely sophisticated neural network of breathtaking cognitive capacity. Their kind has all but written themselves out of existence in less than 1% of the time it took their "retarded" distant cousins.
Perhaps you should just go back to eating nails. This whole, "irony" thing isn't coming close to meeting your nutritional requirements.
