[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Camille pontificates, "Western values of individualism and free expression would be obliterated under the fundamentalist regime sought by militant jihadists."
Western values of individualism and free expression would be obliterated in the event of a Martian invasion as well. That's about as likely as a fundamentalist militant jihadist regime coming to power in America. Unless it's Christian jihadists you're referring to...

Ditto on the OCD
[Read the article: I've got a stupid racist ditty playing in my head]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]OCD was my first thought, especially with the LW's admission of asperger's. Seek out a therapist. There is hope.

Sex sells
[Read the article: WayLay]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...and you're selling it. I notice you have no problem dissing the masculinity of "fake" Klingons to sell your comic...

You folks have short memories
[Read the article: Why is the Democratic Congress so unpopular?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Some of you ask, "Why can't the Democrats just shut off funding for the war?"
You forgot what stalled Newt Gingrich and got Clinton re-elected in '96: the government shutdown. Newt stuck to his guns, did the "brave" thing, and refused to pass a budget. What did it do for Republicans? Four more years of Clinton. The same would happen to Democrats this time around if they tried a "shutdown" of the war, with the extra added bonus of having the deaths of "soldiers abandoned on the battlefield" being thrown back in their faces. Don't believe for a second that rhetoric wouldn't be effective.
No, here's what I see as the current strategy: Congressional Democrats are just fine with the low ratings. What more fertile ground to build up a head of steam in front of the election? But the attention span of the average voter, and even the politically aware ones, is short. They need to do the majority of their investigations/legislating six to nine months before the election. Otherwise people will forget.
We've got to think strategically for once. Delay your political gratification for a bit. Our day will come, but we have to get a solid majority before making bold moves. I know what you're thinking: "Bush didn't have a solid mandate when he was elected, but he steamrolled ahead anyway!" Yes, and look where he is now. We have to make solid, long lasting change. That means not blowing it right out of the gate.

What timing!
[Read the article: Dentists and laundry and air-conditioning repairmen, oh my!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tomorrow I'll be a work at home dad. My wife is being induced tomorrow because she's a week overdue, and it'll be our first. She's going to be a stay at home mom.
Thanks for letting me know I'll have some folks looking down their noses at me if I even mention how hard it is to raise a kid.

We always know when things are bad for Republicans....
[Read the article: Forcing Larry Craig's resignation while embracing David Vitter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...when they say it's good. :) In poker terms, it's their "tell." Stating that the Craig scandal is good for Romney is the tell. All they have to do is keep repeating this pattern: when it's bad, say it's good. This will train their supporters to feel uneasy when Republicans say, "Everything's great!" They're working hard at demoralizing themselves.

Stay
[Read the article: I let my friends stay with me and now they're evicting me!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stock up on beans, garlic, and cabbage. Eat it at every meal. Hang out in the living room all of the time.
Mission Accomplished!

Cabbage not for new mom
[Read the article: I let my friends stay with me and now they're evicting me!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The cabbage is for the LW, jello.
Just...think about it?
Or, don't.

Mr Dean, your friend is a coward
[Read the article: "Broken Government"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If your friend truly believed his words he would not hesitate to expose himself and his son to retribution. If he really thinks the government could crumble if Republicans are allowed another four to eight years he should say so on the record. To not do so is an act of cowardice.

Mr Wallace...
[Read the article: The questions they ask]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...why are you still beating your husband?

Takes one to know one
[Read the article: "Nazis" and "Hitler" -- the Right's casual, trivializing political insults]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I usually don't judge by appearances, but consider this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=484762&in_page_id=1770
Debra Cagan, an aide to Robert Gates, recently told some British MPs, "I hate all Iranians."
That in itself is shocking, of course, but what struck me most was how Ms Cagan dressed in the photo. Is that an iron cross she's wearing? And if the rest of her look isn't Third Reich sheik, I don't know what is.

No difference?
[Read the article: Rudy on hedge funds: Too bad the Yankees lost]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A Nader vote mattered a lot in 2000.
How quickly they forget...

The only way is no way
[Read the article: Lonely single guy tired of being lonely and single seeks person ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1) Stop looking, and mean it. You must stop being interested in the opposite sex for a while.
2) Spend a year and work out, A LOT. Lift weights. Get into ludicrously good shape. Build some muscle.
3) Participate in some group, or group activity, that involves meeting people.
That's it.
1 and 2 make you attractive to women. Yes, being uninterested is interesting. :) 3 gets you in contact with women.
Try it. It worked for me. I was alone most of my 20's, now happily married one year with a 1 month old daughter at 37. I never attracted anyone until I stopped trying.

I fail to see the purpose of this post
[Read the article: Brownback heads for the exit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There's nothing in this post bashing Democrats, or claiming that they're no different than Republicans. Come on, Tim! Continue today's theme...
And while you're at it, why don't you contribute to your local Republican? It'll be a lot less damaging to goal of a solid Democratic majority than the crap you're spewing out lately.

@Slackie
[Read the article: Brownback heads for the exit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Slackie Onassis asks: "...why are the Democrats trying to hard to be as conservative as they can be?"
Because the last time liberals got too out of line in the 60's, many of them were assassinated. (JFK, RFK, MLK, MalcomX)
Don't think the right wing won't go that far this time. They will.
