Mitt's ultimate demise
[Read the article: Mitt Romney, president of Michigan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If the Dem's really are underestimating Mitt as a candidate, his ultimate demise will come on November 4, 2008, as it should.

Attention Michigan Democrats
[Read the article: Team Clinton: Obama's now the establishment candidate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Please email Mark Brewer, Chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party and request a do over primary or caucuses. We cannot be left out, nor can we allow the results of the Jan 15 primary to stand. Michigan needs to be heard from, fairly and accurately.

Sellouts
[Read the article: What I really wanted to say to Chris Matthews]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am a female who was a teenager during the Feminist movement of the early 70's. I am supporting Obama. I have a black male friend my age who is supporting Hillary. We respect each other's position, we both understand we haven't made our choices lightly or without a lot of consideration. I don't have a problem with his decision, he has no issue with mine.
But we've both had to deal with being labeled a "sellout." We are supposed to succumb to other's expectations and beliefs of who we are and how we are supposed to vote. What's "normal" and "natural" given the facts of our gender and/or race.
The next generations coming up don't seem to be troubled with these burdens. Thank goodness!

Caucuses
[Read the article: CNN: Obama sweeps Democratic contests]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]are much cheap to run for states. Maybe that's why many more are going that way this time.

Democrats - Look at the Big Picture
[Read the article: Paul Krugman criticizes Obama supporters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I understand where Krugman is coming from, though I think fingers could be pointed in both directions. I've seen rabidity coming from both sides, and that's sad.
What is really at stake this year is whether or not the Democrats take back the White House. Whether you support Hillary or Barack, one of them MUST get in. The next President will undoubtedly appoint at least one Supreme Court Justice. John Paul Stevens will be 88 years old in April. Supreme Court decisions can effect many generations. Look how long it took to get the Jim Crow laws over-turned. They were in effect from 1876 to 1965! A Republican president will give us another Alito or Roberts. Deomcrats simply cannot afford the Supreme Court to move any further to the right.
While I would have preferred to see Paul Krugman address rabidity in general, rather than showing his own preference for Hillary, I think all voters who want a Democrat in the White House will take heed not to damage a Democratic candidate needlessly, and will plan on uniting behind whoever the eventual candidate is.

@Slackie
[Read the article: Paul Krugman criticizes Obama supporters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't disagree with a single thing you said. I am supporting Obama, and am working to get him nominated. I live in Michigan. We are pressing hard for a caucus re-vote.
All that said, if Hillary is the eventual nominee, I will vote for her. To me, the Supreme Court is in the balance, not just the Presidency. It's imperative that the next President be a Democrat because I do not want the Court to tack any further to the right. Undoing that could take generations and many many Presidential terms. Way too much to risk, in my opinion.

Shuster made his bed
[Read the article: The Shuster fallout]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I like David Shuster, always have. He is an excellent journalist in these days of abounding mediocrity.
When I heard the comment live on Tucker, I was taken aback because it was unexpected coming from him. The "apology" the next morning on "Morning Joe" was, at best, half-hearted. What I didn't see until later was the defensive posture he took in the email exchange with the Clinton campaign immediately after show aired and prior to his on-air apology.
Obviously, David didn't get it. Very sad. I think MSNBC did the right thing suspending him. There is a pattern..first Imus, then Chris Matthews mea culpa a couple weeks ago, now Shuster. They ought to sit back and figure out what message they want to project.
And, no, I am not a Clinton supporter. Obama '08!

CPAC picks Romney
[Read the article: Romney defeats McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Given that the straw poll was taken after Romney dropped out, isn't that rather like voting for a dead man?

Shuster: journalist or pundit?
[Read the article: David Shuster, scapegoat?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As far as what he said, I found it out of line. I heard it live, and cringed. The defensive email exchange he had with the Clinton campaign immediately afterward showed that he had no clue that he was offensive. That begat the apology the next morning which half-hearted, at best. MSNBC did the right thing. And I do believe there is a definite pattern of sexist commentary among their on-air personalities.
If I were David Shuster, I'd spend this "time-out" figuring out which career path I wanted to take from here, pundit or journalist. I don't think the two mix well, and punditry will cast a dark shadow on his investigative work, and make it suspect. Not sure he knows that...

The economy
[Read the article: "Maybe he'd prefer to give speeches"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The economy is the only topic that has gotten lightly glazed over in the past debates. I hope it's covered in depth in the next two go 'rounds. After that, more debates are pointless.

Earth to Bush! Paging, paging...
[Read the article: Bush chides Clinton, Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think we need to pass the hat so we can buy Mr. Bush a Clue Junior game for his birthday...at least then he'd have one...a "clue" that is..

Nader is a non-issue
[Read the article: The audacity of narcissism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In 2000, Nader received 2.8 million votes, or 2.7% of those cast.
In 2004, Nader received 465K votes, or 0.3% of those cast.
Nader became irrelevant 4 years ago.

A real simple remedy
[Read the article: WHNT rejects bias charge in "60 Minutes" blackout]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just announce to the viewers the date(s) and time(s)of a replay of the segment as a public service. If WHNT has noting to hide, and has a desire to do right by their viewers, the answer is really that simple.
