... but I'm almost convinced that nothing will come of this. After hearing Comey's testimony yesterday, I was so furious I was near tears. I thought maybe, finally, people will understand that a bunch of thugs are running our government. But my own city's newspaper (150,000 pop.) didn't even carry a story about it in today's edition. Fox News yesterday evening focused on Snarlin' Arlen's hyping Comey's unwillingness to state definitively that the program was illegal. Tony Snow's feigned dismissiveness ("disgusting" is the right word for his attitude) and Gonzo's refusal to allow Ashcroft and Comey to testify in 2006 make me think that they're worried. If the Senate Judiciary Committee keeps chewing on this, maybe it will have an impact. I'm not optimistic.

Ugh, I really love her but I HATE getting these things. Worse, any pictures included with the e-mails turn into boxes with "x" in the corner by the time they reach me. So I don't even get the pleasure of viewing fluffy kittens and puppies. I was within a hair of asking her to take me off her list, then she FWD'd me a FWD about why she FWDs these things all the time ... because it means she's thinking about me! Wow! I guiltily slithered away from the keyboard. One time I directed her to Snopes.com, and she stopped sending the FWDs for a while. She just started again. Argh. I keep telling myself, "She's 81 years old and won't be around much longer, and if it brings her some measure of satisfaction to do it, then let it go." But she isn't my boss, thank goodness. (Her son is.) I believe I'd start looking for another job if I were the LW.

I'm 51 and aging rapidly. As far as I could tell, I was considered beautiful for only 5-10 years, after I'd had my kids and started exercising ferociously. It's painful to lose that beauty after having it so briefly. It's tough to look in the mirror and see my mother looking back at me. It's esp. tough to have the most gorgeous 18-yr-old daughter ever and realize that I'm invisible beside her. So what did I do? I had Botox. I had Restylane. I had my eyes done. I try to dress nicely. I still look like a well-put-together middle-aged woman. So I had my hair cut to less than an inch long. And now I get mistaken for a lesbian.

Yes, I'm tired of the draping thing too but would've been sorry to see Rami go. Also glad they didn't do a 4-some like like season. They played that just right. I can see how they were deadlocked on Rami/Chris. The episode where the 2 of them duke it out will be fun.

We live in a very close-knit neighborhood close to downtown. Houses are about 30 feet apart at most. Everyone hears everything. Last night as I was out watering my plants, I heard someone a few houses away playing BAGPIPES! And it was cool as hell. My husband and I are in our early 50s. Our kids are away at college. New families are moving into the neighborhood with babies and young children, and I frequently hear them playing and shouting in the alleyway behind our house, as my kids and their friends used to play back there. These are the sounds of LIFE. If LW wants quiet, he needs to move to a 5-acre plot somewhere or a retirement community.

... from Obama and the DCCC a little while ago. How timely. I asked that I be "unsubscribed" from their list and said I'm not inclined to contribute now because of what's going on with FISA. I also e-mailed Obama via his website and asked him to show some leadership on this issue.
