  • Correction, if you please :

[Read the article: Do national journalists agree with Gary Kamiya?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As the exchange I had recently with The Politico's John Harris reflects, they dismiss most media criticisms as nothing more than the by-product of crass partisan bias...

Not true.. for the most part they dismiss media criticism as useless self wankery by uneducated clowns who don't know the first thing about journalism or politics.

    In a word : Blogging.

  • I saw Elvis yesterday.

Dunkin Donuts... He's put on a lot of weight.. but still.. you can't miss the sound of his voice, that look.

  • Recusal..

[Read the article: Harry Reid works to ensure telecom amnesty, warrantless surveillance]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How about a policy of recusing yourself from votes when you are directly impacted or have contributions from a corporation that is?

  • The Bush DUI story was broken by Fox.

[Read the article: Howie Kurtz, Shailagh Murray, and the vapid, petty Beltway media mind]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

First the intrepid (Fox Affiliate) reporter, then a Fox National Correspondent 'broke' the story, cheating the original reporter out of the scoop. I think it was Carl Cameron.. but I could be wrong there.

  • This is why it works.

Just grabbed from comments on Malkins blog :

On October 29th, 2007 at 5:28 pm, tony the tiger said:

    GG says: wahhh!

“The examples of overt politicization by the U.S. military

in the last year alone are numerous and are amply

    documented…”

I wonder if that includes removing keys from computer keyboards, ala the Clinton years…

Remember that? All the damage the outgoing Clinton appointees supposedly did? Remember how the press lapped it up? Remember how Bob Barr, full Right Republican Senator insisted on a Congressional Investigation? Even Bob couldn't find a single substantiable claim. Not one.

But here you have some guy faithfully reproducing the mud. It stuck.. not in reality land, maybe, but if you believe it, that's close enough to reality for most.

Demonisation works, it always has, and it always will. The only way to stop it is to keep these lunatics on corner soapboxes and off the WSJ editorial pages.

  • Maybe they are teaching him civics.

[Read the article: Self-satire scales new heights]

You know.. if he repeats it often enough, he might get to wondering what the words mean.

  • You are part of the solution, which is part of the problem

[Read the article: The NYT's Michael Cooper demonstrates what real reporting is]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

They refuse to subject claims -- particularly claims from the GOP power structure and the right-wing noise machine which they fear -- to any critical scrutiny.

When they fear people like you more than the GOP Megaphone, we will have a chance of getting fair, honest reporting. But then some other group, who's agenda is less likely to be benign, will find another way to be louder.

I guess I'm having trouble believing that good will should down evil. It's raining here.. maybe that's my problem.

  • Not honoring a hold from your own party should be grounds...

[Read the article: Harry Reid's FISA games]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For immediate dismissal from your appointed post. Period.

When was the last time a hold was not honored? Ever?

  • I don't say this often enough

But thank you Glenn, thank you for the effort, on a daily basis.

I very much appreciate the opportunity to read well thought out, topical arguments.

If you left, I'd dump Salon, and you can tell them I said so.

  • Is there anything I can do?

[Read the article: The courts and Congress affirmatively conceal and protect lawbreaking]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How do you pressure the Supreme Court to deal with it?

How do you get a special prosecutor when the AG colluded?

    Any ideas?

  • Substitue Rezko for Renzi and see what you get.

[Read the article: The "Rezko" game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Renzi of course, is tightly coupled to McCain (sorry for the visual) and is under indictment.

    Media Frenzy?

    Not so much.

  • Maybe Tom Hates the Sin..

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And not the sinner. Maybe... just maybe.. Tom is one of those people.. mortgage.. kids.. family health issues.

Maybe, being a big shot cartoonist doesn't guarantee you a life of transplendent luxury any more (don't we all miss the old days?)

Maybe Tom doesn't hate the characters he shows us.. but rather, he hates the things they do. Like voting for man who is clearly uninterested in the principles upon which this country was founded. Like turning a blind eye to the same torture that horrified our father's generation.

Maybe Tom is one of those people.. I know I am.
