Armey probably shares the philosophy of Huckabee and other social conservatives that women should not be involved in business or politics, but instead should stay home, raise the kids, and make sure that supper is on the table.
Welcome to the GOP's version of "Pleasantville".
So Rush measures success by how many people can't stand him, he buys affection by treating family to freebies, and he goes out of his way to be as obnoxious as possible in order to increase his ratings. What a role model.
Limbaugh represents the worst aspects of the extreme far-right factions of the Republican Party. He makes a living by spreading disingenuous hate and fear-inciting propaganda. He and his followers promote exclusion and intolerance, and they attempt to diminish those who look different than themselves, pray to a different deity, or follow a different lifestyle.
If his cousin really feels strongly that Limbaugh is wrong, then she should have the courage of her convictions and tell him so, and she should refuse the free trips that are financed by the dissemination of vitriol and venom.
A number of Republicans have blamed Barack Obama for many of the ills being experienced by Americans ever since he was elected. After careful analysis, I have come to the conclusion that they may be correct!
Rush Limbaugh complains that Obama is responsible for his chronic flatulence. I have no doubt that he is right.
Other examples of the physiological and emotional damage being inflicted by Obama's programs and policies include:
- Sean Hannity....incontinence
- Bill O'Reilly....erectile disfunction (not that the opportunity has ever 'arisen')
- Michele Bachmann....paranoid psychosis
- Michael Steele....general mental confusion, inability to carry on a rational conversation
- Sarah Palin....rapidly declining intellect and ignorance of the world around her
- Ann Coulter....severe mood swings and overall bitchiness
- Glenn Beck....general emotional instability (but don't tell him so, he might begin to cry)
I may have overlooked some cases, but the research will continue and a cure will be sought.
Tough call. Choosing sides on this one is like deciding between the Hatfields and the McCoys.
The easiest way to solve a problem is to deny its existence.
The values and morals of ANY religion have absolutely no place in politics with respect establishing public policy or writing legislation. We need to focus on ETHICAL behavior and leave morals in the church and within every individual's home.
We were never a "Christian" nation. Neither are we a "Caucasian" nation or an "Anglo" nation. The notion that one group of religions is more American than any other is contrary to the tenets established by our founding fathers when they endorsed the "separation of church and state" as a fundamental concept in the US Constitution.
Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Beck, Bachmann, Bachus, etc have been playing a very dangerous game. They are fanning the flames of bigotry through their manipulative, disingenuous association of Obama and the Democrats in Congress with terms such as "Socialist", "Communist", "Fascist" and "un-American". They claim to speak on behalf of most Americans, but they actually are primarily drawing the right-wing fringe to their cause. The Aryan Brotherhood, the KKK, the John Birch Society, etc regard themselves as their peeps.
The more that these bombastic, bellicose, self-serving commentators and politicians promote a message of hatred and fear about Obama and his policies, the greater the probability that some wacko extremist will take their message too literally and respond violently against anyone who they feel is not "American" in their eyes.
If you ask a dozen different people attending the "tea parties" why they plan to attend, you will get a dozen different reasons and none will have any merit based on reality.
Obama has not raised taxes, he has cut them for the vast majority of Americans.
The Bush Administration created the national deficit problem, and now we MUST invest federal dollars to re-right the ship.
And it was the LACK of government regulation that caused the banking system to crash.
Complaining about "socialism"? Does that mean you plan to refuse Medicare when you become eligible? Will you encourage your elderly loved ones to do likewise? Cause there isn't anything more "socialistic" at the federal level than taxpayer-subsidized health care for senior citizens.
Or are you one of those extreme right-wing fringe whack-jobs that still think Obama is a Muslim...or a foreigner....or an alien?
Quick, run to Rush. He'll give you a new batch of scripted talking points.
And to the handful of folks that mistakenly believed that they would be participating in a genuine grass roots political event, well, there is no Easter bunny either. It is true that you have every right to protest, air your concerns, and express your anger about the economy. But at the same time, the reality is that you are being reduced to a propaganda tool for the bozos on FOX News, FreedomWorks, and elsewhere that wish to exploit your concerns for their own self-serving, disingenuous purposes. Best to take a hot shower when you get home.
Of course, all of this tea partying could improve the economy if everyone buys stock in Lipton on Tuesday and then sells it on Thursday...
One of the persistent themes being voiced at the tea parties is the notion of "taxation without representation", a concept borrowed from the original Boston Tea Party.
However, we just had an election during which every adult citizen had the opportunity to vote. So what these folks are really complaining about is that their candidate(s) LOST!
This does not invalidate the election, people. All it means is that you are SORE LOSERS. Suck it up and try again in 2010.
Never let reality get in the way of your rhetoric.
The tea parties would have more credibility if the participants were not so ignorant about the merits of their cause. It would be like people protesting "illegal aliens" by holding up signs that read "Martians go home!".
