Even though 'Right' is on his side, he comes off looking like a grandstanding narcissist. -- Kitt
He only comes off that way to fools.
Act Blue agreed to take the Comcast logo out of the ad? Unbelievable. Actually, wait....no, it is entirely believable. Bunch of fucking sell-outs.
The next president is going to appoint AGs, SCOTUS justices, and other federal judges and bureaucrats. Do we want John McCain to do that? Even if Obama is associated with a party that is associated with a guy who had AT and T pay some of the convention bills? -- h_lance
A whore is a whore is a whore.
YES. I do want McCain to do those things. You know why? because people like you are too stupid to see that there is no difference between the corporate whores. You are willing to live in the Corporate States of America as long as the guy from your team is in charge. I do want McCain. I want you to lose. You personally.
AccountabilityNowPacThe number of pledges has been languishing in the twentyeight hundreds for days. Without out a serious push, the money bomb will be a damp firecracker. -- macgupta
Well perhaps you could use some of the money you already have to start an ad campaign aimed at the poor. Maybe you could convince them to go without eggs and butter for awhile in order to help the cause. They don't need that stuff anyway. They need to know that, if they would just throw their money in the pot, everything will be better. You could tell them that "more and better democrats" will get their sons and daughters out of Iraq. It's not lying if you believe it stongly enough.
Heck, if you raise enough money, perhaps next election cycle it can be the "Democratic National Convention sponsored by AccountabilityNowPAC." Do you all have a logo yet? You will be able to compete with AT&T some day. Baby steps people... baby steps.
I am wondering how much freedom $153,968 can buy. What are the annual "advertising" budgets for telecoms, big oil, big pharma, media corps, etc. etc? With all of these greenbacks-of-freedom flying around, I am expecting big things. I am sure the Shock and Awe of the Money Bomb will bring them to their knees eventually.
I have been watching the Olympics and I learned that ExxonMobil is going to solve the worlds environmental problems with the help of various world governments. They were pretty vague in their ad but it seemed they were sure about one thing -- nothing will get done without them.
UPDATE: Andrew Bacevich in The Los Angeles Times today:
Greenwald quotes a self described "catholic conservative," who, as I recall, didn't become "anti-war" until his son caught a bullet, in order to highlight a truth that many of us crazy, unserious "leftists" have been saying for literally years. The problem is systemic... do not expect change. I guess Greenwald wasn't being sarcastic in all of those moments when he explained that one is not "serious" unless they are conservative, a warmonger, or part of the establishment media machine. Conservatives or "former" conservatives must say it before it is "serious."
Why not quote Nader? He has been saying the same/similar shit for years.
Screw you Greenwald. You aren't in this for change. You are just adding to the meme.
I love it. All of you running to the defense of a barely known but very serious "true conservative" and in the process miss the point entirely. I couldn't give two shits about Andrew Bacevich but, while we are at it, since you all felt the need to defend him....
Who do you think he voted for? Who do you think he has donated to and otherwise supported these past 20 - 30 years? I am sure he voted for Carter. He's a true conservative isolationist? Is that all? You mean like like Pat Buchanan? Seriously... do you all ever listen to yourselves? I expect that kind of crap from everything-is-the-commies-fault Mona. After all, she has to attempt to defend her own voting idiocy and her moronic beliefs to the last. You know... "conservatism can't fail, people fail conservatism" blah, blah, blech.
So the guy is not pro war? You sure about that? Who says? Him? Wikipedia? Mona? He's not just another idiot, warmongering conservative, who believes in a fundamentally flawed ideology but who now would rather put the breaks on the people he has supported? No, he isn't a warmonger? I would literally bet my left testicle that his political donations and his voting record of the last few decades would say something completely different. You people are suckers. Complete and total suckers. You are beyond help.
Now back to the real issue....
None of this changes the fact that, in an effort to gain "credibility," Greenwald is doing his level best to become part of the "serious" crowd. He laments that the establishment labels anyone who doesn't toe their line as "unserious" and yet he is just like them. He is one of them. When Nader said it, it was unserious. Not fit to comment on. Hell, the very name Nader shouldn't be found in serious discussions, right? Just the mention of his name draws scorn. But when a conservative says it ...wow, boy howdy sit up and pay attention! When people like me said, over and over again, that the problem was systemic we were ignored and ridiculed. But not a manly man, West Point grad, dyed in the wool true conservative like Bracevich. No, no he is serious. Greenwald can quote him. Greenwald isn't working for change. He is working for "credibility" and recognition.
The whole thing is a joke and it's on you idiots.
