Obama's statement and feedback thread

I can't believe I am doing it but I actually signed up over there and am leaving as many links to Glenn's update 3 that I can. Anyone else care to join me?

There are times when you simply amaze me.

No foolish consistency for you my dear man.

That is all. -- bystander

Meh... whatever. I just got sick of reading all of the imbecilic, uneducated responses over there. I happen to like the truth and I thought it might be a good idea to clue a few people in.

Ok, well, that was as worthless as I expected.

I posted several shot replies over there and got one response that I noticed.

A guy posts this in response to a complaint by somone named Adam.

Adam, I think you are missing the point. Barack said there are very important security measures that will expire in the compromise bill that could endanger our lives. To reject the bill would mean the Democratic party would have to reject the bill as well and we could all potentially be in danger from something that is very real. I thought Obama made some great points given that I too was initially astounded that he was not opposing this bill -- after reading this message I feel reassured that he was acting in the best interests of the American people.

To which I gently responded with a very short comment saying that he was mistaken and if he would like some insight he could follow the link to update 3.

A few minutes later I received the following in response.

Yeah, but your are basing the truth off a blog while I am trusting a highly thought of Senator with integrity, who heads a committee with access to more security information than what that person who wrote that blog has. It's a non-issue for me at this point. I take Senator Obama at his word. Besides that, the telecom industry is only doing what the government asked them to do -- so why should they get prosecuted for this? I am firmly behind Senator Obama on this issue now and look forward to moving ahead with an exciting campaign.

Happy Subservience Day!

I liked this one too... no it ain't snark either.

Senator Obama does not make bad decisions. Some may disagree about his decision but he is an honorable and wonderful leader. Anyone who has read his books knows the depth of his character and integrity. We need him and we need him now.

There is no human being alive that we are going to agree with 100% of the time.

adnoto:

I am really annoyed with you.

Sorry (sincerely) Holly but why on earth would you ever do that in the first place? Did you give them your real name too? This isn't your first rodeo, correct? I have about 6 junk email accounts for those purposes. I would write the Obama site admin and ask them to delete your account ASAP.

Take care Happy. Peace to you.

Well done Jim.

Happy Fourth of July, shooter. I’m very sorry that you have no idea what this day represents.

-- Jim Montague

What an absolute piece of shit shooter is. I forget sometimes because I never read his posts and often pass over those responding to him. I forget what his kind is like. The unmitigated gall. The self-deceit it must take to be a person like him. It is astounding when you really think about it.

I had a friend who is just like him. A friend from way back. It finally came to a head one day and I had to tell him to shut his mouth or else. He was taken aback. Totally disoriented. He didn't have a clue (but then he never did). To him it is all a fucking game. All the lies and the intellectual dishonesty. I just finally had to tell him to get fucked and to stay away from me, otherwise I was literally going to give him a beating. Over the past few years I have purposefully distanced myself from all the "conservatives" in my life. I am done suffering them.

Pointus

What would you recommend to someone whose dad is a true believer, an old aquaintance of Rumsfeld & Cheney (for real), and doesn't always respect my request to avoid political commentary at the table? -- pointus

Family is a bit tougher but, since you asked me, I am at a place where I don't care if they are family or not. If he is, as you say, a true believer in the vein of his associates you mentioned then he probably is beyond hope. Would you willingly hang out with Rumsfeld or Cheney? Are you still young and living at home? If so this may not be an option for you but I would just disassociate. Don't go to dinner. Don't take his phone calls. Maybe if he saw that you were serious enough (a true believer in your own right) that you would cut off contact... maybe, if he loves you, that would at least give him pause. He may begin to question what it is about him or his beliefs that would cause you to be willing to cut ties. You would have to be prepared for him not to though. Conservatives aren't very good at introspection. If they were, they wouldn't be conservatives.

I am sorry if all of this sounds heartless but I have grown to a place where I find little to no value in conservatives. They aren't even "conservative" in the traditional sense of the word. They exist on an ever shrinking scale with the unfailingly ignorant anchoring one end and sociopaths at the other.
