GadsThis is all just a a last gasp effort to find something, anything to kneecap Bush in the final days of his term. How appropriate, the Tanya Hardings of politics.
-- shooter242
I take it that you will be bringing up Bush and your constant accusations of "BDS" years from now, just as you have spent the last several years constantly falling back on your "BIOC" (Blame it on Clinton) game. Do you think it is possible that you could you be more boring than you are, Sh**ter?
-- Kitt
Careful Kitt. Remember the words of wise sage Timberman and don't alienate your natural allies. You and shooter want the same thing -- a President Obama! You guys are on the same side. Shooter is practically a member of the "liberal" family now. Save your brilliant ripostes for your real enemies like me.
I'm not just following along in blind admiration of at GG position. -- bernbart
None of us are following along in blind admiration of GG's position, you incredible TOOL!
We are following along in admiration of the facts. It is actually the opposite of blind admiration.
You've beaten me into submissionAlright I'm wrong. I just did some research...
-- bernbart
Bernbart, my apologies. I took you for someone you apparently aren't.
If others can offer a different path THAT WORKS-and no, Kucinich doesn’t work-then I’d be happy to reconsider. -- spacedogg
"Offer me a path 'that works' otherwise I will continue on this path that I know has no hope of working." Brilliant.
Yours is the path that doesn't work. That has been proven over the last 40 years (if not longer). Happy to reconsider? The only thing you are happy doing is pulling your head from your ass once every few years to vote for the LOTE. Long live the incrementalist revolution!
You don't want something that works. You want feel comforted in the knowledge that you are doing all you can. Well you aren't, not even close and I am here to remind you of that.
What if this is as good as it gets?-- Gordon
As good as it gets? Comparing what exactly? I guess it all depends on what we want, if we are willing to settle and what we are willing to settle for. Either way their are some historical precedents that would say things can get better. I doubt our founding fathers, Abolitionists, the Molly Maguires, the Knights of Labor, the IWW, the Women's Suffrage Movement, MLK Jr. etc. etc. thought it was a good as it could get.
Things can always be made better. When they are, it is often called progress.
But we are not obligated to feel charitable to someone who in the same veign voted for the much hated war in Iraq and hate her with the same venom we heap to its architect George Bush even though this person is a fellow Democrat? Unbelievable. -- saman65
No "we" aren't obligated and it isn't unbelievable. Have you ever considered that being a "fellow democrat" is one of the problems at this point? Why don't you tell us what you think the traditional Democratic party ideals are and then compare that to both Obama and Clinton. Tell us what you come up with.
IMO, Clinton is an establishment corporatist. 20 or 30 years ago she would have been recognized for the conservative that she is. Obama is just beginning his sell-out. That, in and of itself, makes him less offensive to the little guy.
The democrats are not our favorite sports team. How they act and the policies they pursue should make a difference as to whether we support them or not. Both Obama and Clinton are Democrats. So are Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, etc. etc. Think about that a minute and consider whether it is smart to be a "fellow democrat."
Pinky -- I've been wondering if the FISA judges realized something was going on ...and if not, how not. They were open for business to authorize warrants. Did they have any customers? Was it really business as usual?
-- susan sunflower
I am not sure what you are responding to specifically in Pinky's post (haven't read it yet) but didn't one of the FISC judges resign in protest? Early on? I am almost positive something like that happened. Glenn? Anyone else remember something like that?
US District Judge James Robertson, one of 11 members of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), has resigned in protest over the National Security Agency's secret domestic surveillance program...

(1) As indicated, Judge Walker became the third federal Judge to reject the Bush administration's legal excuse for breaking the law. -- GG
It might not be as important as a ruling but it may be worth noting that, from early on, there may have been others who rejected BushCo's lawlessness. Comments in the previous thread reminded me of this:

So?Bush doesn't obey the law, congress doesn't obey the law, hell, the DOJ doesn't obey the law. This country has been taken over by corporate criminals. Congress is full of 'em as is the WH. So face it, there is nothing we can do. They do not respond to letters or phone calls. They do not respond to investigations. They do not respond to legal rulings. They just continue their criminal behavior. Please, someone, tell me, WHAT THE HELL CAN BE DONE?

Direct action. That is all that remains. But you will find very few here (if any) willing to use that avenue.
