Et tu, Obama?

I guess "More and Better Democrats" would not include Barack Obama then? -- ckelly707

He is a Democrat isn't he? What are you implying? I am guessing you are a youngster right? You just don't understand patience. Can't you see that he is just keeping his powder dry? Everything will change when he gets elected. And then we can elect even more and better Democrats next time around. Look no one said it would be easy. It just takes patience. One step forward and two steps back wins the prize!

Trying to help?

0(starting postion) + 1(step fwd) - 2(steps back) = -1 (one step behind your starting position)

I'm trying to help. -- EMStoveken

That is what you call trying to help? Chastising the leaders of the UT "more and better" democrats movement? Pointing out that one step forward and two steps back actually equals -1? Who do you think you are? Well I don't care. I will have to check out the veracity of your claim but I still say more and better democrats. That is the only serious option. Where will we be if we don't elect more of them? Things like this telecom amnesty bill will be the new normal, business as usual if we don't work as hard as we can to elect more and better democrats.

Don't mind me. Posting at work has its disadvantages. -- EMStoveken

Take care and better days to you. Better days to all of us....

Chris

Why didn't Sheehan post that message on DailyKos herself? That's right, she got banned from there when she made it clear that she was going to challenge Pelosi. Why was she banned? Because, you guessed it, she was challenging a Democrat and DailyKos is all about the superduper duper strategy of "ELECTING DEMOCRATS" and Sheehan can't be rocking the boat!

-- Chris Sinnard

I haven't followed the link and I know nothing about the Sheehan situation but I completely believe that. Kos is as establishment enabling as they come. I know it will rub LWM's ego the wrong way but Kos is probably the de facto leader of the more and better democrats crowd. I still check out the member diaries from time to time though. There are still some left-libertarians over there trying to fight through the bullshit.

Just trust them. They are "serious"

His assurances that when President he'll watch the issue closely smacks of "trust me." It also misses the point of a "government of laws not of men (or women)". Even if I might trust a President Obama (and in this I don't much trust anyone short of God herself), what about the next one? -- kairos

Not to worry the "next one" will be an even better democrat because "more and better" democrats are on the march!

All we have to do is:

  • take one step forward and two steps back
  • click our heels three times
  • collect underpants
  • ?

and voila

  • profit!

Activists?

It's so great to see such fortitude in the face of adversity from the activists on whose efforts our liberty and well-being depend. -- Amity

lol. Activists?? In the words of Inigo Montoya...

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Yeah it is a positively revolutionary act to continue to bang one's head against the wall by voting and hoping for more and better democrats. It is the most rational thing one can do... hold on...oh crap -- Einstein disagrees):

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein

Ah WTF does he know anyway? More and better Democrats!!!11!1

Oh man that is great....

I look forward to the day when Antonin Scalia explains to us how this grotesque abrogation of our liberties is exactly what the Founding Pussies had in mind all those years ago. -- flagwaiver

I gotta say... this is the funniest thing I have ever read in the comments section of UT. I am still laughing.

Well done sir (or madame as the case may be).

Amity

Far better to sit back and chuckle complacently in the fact of this outbreak of useless effort and inability to accomplish any goals. -- Amity

Well all that would be true if your premise wasn't wrong in the first place.

There hasn't been any "mass political action" directed at Washington... not of the variety that would actually bring about change anyway.

I hate to keep saying this but, no matter how much you want it to be true, stern letter writing and even ad campaigns (though a better try) are not "mass political action" of any consequence at this point.

We had an old adage in the Marine Corps that I can't remember specifically but, paraphrased, it went something along the lines of: A battle may be won here and there through other means but no war is one without by the infantry.

Ask any military man -- boots on the ground, taking and securing that ground, is the only thing that will ever truly win a war. Not airpower, not Naval gunships. Those are supporting roles that cannot win the greater war by themselves. In this case, letter writing, granting or withholding funding and ad campaigns are the close air support and naval bombardment that are supposed to be working in conjunction with a ground offensive which.... yeah that's right -- which doesn't exist.

So you are correct... these people are "activists" of a sort I suppose but they are not really trying to win the war.
