Timberman

[Read the article: Was Karl Rove involved in the military analyst program?]
My own thought is that Glenn and others are building a case. When the day comes when we have the power to present it -- and I think it will.... -- William Timberman

Keep dreaming bozo. Who constitutes "we" in your fantasyland? You will "have the power" when Obama gets elected, correct? I will meet you back here, six months in to his tenure, so that you can explain to us why nothing has changed, no one was held accountable and why anyone should ever again listen to your "play the game and everything will be better" nonsense. --adnoto

The new 2008 FISA law requires a warrant first, and more oversight. -- bernbart

Can't you ban the blatant propagandists? The out-and-out liars? The original FISA law did not require warrants to eavesdrop and/or wiretap? Tat only happen after the 2008 FISA law?

Seriously Glenn, please ban bernbart. By allowing her to continue to post here you are simply allowing a "centrist," establishment propagandist a place to spread her lies. What's wrong with her is not correctable.

Yes, yes and?

So here we have proof of clear presidential criminality as blatant as can be imagined: knowing his own DOJ believed these surveillance activities were criminal, Bush ordered them to continue anyway (and then only ordered them to cease once the entire top-level of his DOJ, in an election year, was on the verge of resigning in protest). And President Obama continues to actively impede the only meaningful avenues for disclosure and accountability: a Congressional investigation armed with subpoena power and/or a judicial adjudication of the legality of these acts.

What are we prepared to do about it?

The Obama justice system - as opposed to actual justice.

It's unfortunate but this time around I don't think we will even see a constitutional stalwart like Kucinich introducing articles of impeachment. Not that it would matter. Glenn and the other liberal bloggers would simply ignore him.

So tired of this question...

The motive?

The part that confuses me about this is the question: What's the Obama administration's motivation in all this?

-- Xrandadu Hutman

Do you acknowledge the corporate/MIC oligarchs? Do you acknowledge the two-tiered system of "justice?" If so then you ought to be able to work out the motivations of our elected "representatives."

What's going on?

What's going on?

We have to confront a painful question about our President. Many of us were convinced that he would be very different from his predecessor in matters of civil liberties. He is not. The distance between our expectations and reality is a failure that must be explained. So what happened? -- Blue Meme

What's going on is that the vast majority of "us" have not accepted that it is the system, controlled by the corporate/MIC elite establishment, that is the real culprit. Our failure to see and failure to internalized the fact that the system is fundamentally broken and that the executive and legislative branches do not represent the people is the problem. So, "we" continue to support and vote for establishment candidates for high office. What happened is that we elected another establishment corporatist. That is what happened.

Here's an idea

In my analysis, we should be focusing on three things, which for purposes of brevity and alliteration I will call: Communications, Congress, and Counter recruitment / resistance. Communications encompasses all public discussion of the wars and impacts all other approaches, including targets I consider far less likely to be influenced by us than Congress, such as the president, generals, the heads of weapons companies, the heads of media companies, the people of Afghanistan, your racist neighbor, etc. If our communications strategy can change the behavior of any of these targets, terrific! We should be prepared to take advantage of such opportunities should they arise. But the first place we are likely to be able to leverage successful communications will be the House of Representatives.

Why don't we just hug it out?
