What does "get us out" mean to you?

a disturbing story from the British paper The Independent that talks about a secret deal where Bush wants 50 military bases, control of Iraqi airspace and legal immunity for all American soldiers and contractors (see sig). -- RMP

Yeah, interesting huh?

Iraq, the new occupied territory. Complete with walled compounds, walled neighboorhoods, roadside military checkpoints and an economy completely dominated by the occupier. Mr. Iraqi meet Mr. Palestinian.

Who here actually believes Obama will "get us out of Iraq?" If so, what does "get out" mean? What form? Full withdrawal? Does anyone reading this seriously believe Obama will get us "out" out? Completely out? I am betting he will be too busy giving speeches to AIPAC and "reaching across the aisle." 50 bases does seem a bit much. But then that is probably why that number was floated... to make 20 bases seem "reasonable."

If the Iraqi's are smart they won't count on Obama either. If they are smart they will come together and focus their efforts on their puppet govt. and US forces instead of each other. I understand that al-Sistani has issued some fatwas in that vein.

What does anyone suppose the American people would do if we were faced with a completely lawless occupying force with "50 bases" on our soil? Well, maybe that isn't a good comparison... we have American Idol to keep us happy. They have U.S. Marine Corps funniest home videos (link)...

Respect My Authoritah!!!!11!

I'm not unpopular on this board, Omooex. Not with the multitude of posters, and not with Glenn Greenwald. So please, don't try to build your reputation by attempting to trash me by dragging in other people who haven't expressed what you have expressed in regards to me. -- Kitt

Holy crap. This had me laughing for a good couple of minutes. What the... are we in 2nd grade now? "Daddy approves of me and I have lots and lots of friends so I wouldn't mess with me if I were you?" You are kidding with that correct?

Wow... build his reputation? By "trashing" you? I have news for you Kitt -- breaking you down takes all of about 2 posts. Hardly enough for anyone to "build a reputation" on.

CO

Our Failure

Speaking personally, bashing Broder, while appropriate, brings little insight, change, or satisfaction. Rather, I take our failure to bring this administration to accountability as a personal failure. Pointing a finger at Broder does nothing to change the fact that we have failed collectively to do so, and I have personally failed to do so.

...

So we've lost this one. Accountability will not happen. These guys are going to skate away in a manner so flagrant that Nixon will be snarling with envy from his golfcart on Hell's 9th fairway.

Pinning this personal defeat on Media Posterboy David Broder for the 2nd, or 20th, or 200th time--changes nothing. But, by all means, rage on if it makes you feel better. -- casual_observer

CO -- I would like to say thank you or thank God that you have "come around" but perhaps you have always felt this way. Perhaps many people have realized that it has been our problem to fix all along and thus, the failure to correct it, our failing. Perhaps people have always realized that but I don't see the admission very often. Almost never in fact so your post makes me feel at least a bit less insane this morning. I thank you for that.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled UT complaint session and letter writing campaign #11,368...

McCain appreciates you...

This is another reason among many others why I will not be supporting the Democrats unless they get their act together, and fast! -- pandas

Clinton supporters... the ultimate "liberal" concern trolls. Classic.

lol

I think you've stepped over the line, Adnoto. -- Kitt

You must be joking. You produce a lame attempt at a 3rd grade "your mama" taunt and I am the one that has "stepped over the line?" You really are a piece of work Kitt. You drew that particular line in the sand and then you proceed to pout and complain when I stoop to your level and toe it? You really are a mental midget... I can't believe I am wasting my time explaining this to you. Since your daughters are so smart why don't you ask them to explain to you the phrase "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Let's find out who is truly "serious"

While you all were discussing your ad campaign aimed at one bad Democrat, a true patriot spent four and a half hours yesterday submitting articles of impeachment for the purpose of impeaching the criminal Bush. Anybody feel like supporting Kucinich in his effort or is he just not "serious" enough for you all? Are you going to get behind this Glenn?

While you're at it...

WRITE YOUR CONGRESSPERSON & SENATORS NOW!

Dear Congressperson Eshoo and Senators Boxer and Feinstein:

I am gravely concerned that the FISA bill....

-- farbie

Don't you think it might be good to write your congresspersons in favor of the articles of impeachment that Kucinich listed yesterday?

Where is the urging of the UT "community" to begin a letter writing campaign in support of impeachment?

Bold

(strong)enclosed will be in bold font sytle(/strong)

Might want to use (b)bold(/b) for the same results with less effort. Just a suggestion.
