Hornet? More like a gnat.

Wow. I really stepped in it. Sorry Scientician. I didn't see all of this back and forth with the "Yuma long-hair." Holy crap that guy is an embarrassment. Keep at him you guys -- though, from what I can tell, he probably isn't worth the effort.

Paul Dirks

They didn't stop the carrier for the landing. They delayed its arrival into port in San Diego so the the Pres. could fly out to it. It literally circled offshore waiting for the photo-op. -- Paul Dirks

Yes I realize what he meant now. Thanks for the heads up none-the-less. I just feel like an ass for bringing up what I thought was a fun little tidbit right in the middle of a knock-down drag-out. I just wasn't paying enough attention.

In other news...

US President George W. Bush today thanked "Austrian" Prime Minister John Howard, in front of a summit of business leaders, for being a kind OPEC host.

Oh, NOW it's time?

Timberman wrote...

Reversing this coup, restoring the government to the service of the people, is now likely to require a second American Revolution.

lol.

Good for a laugh

Should the police sandbag the windows at the station house, or are you just in town to catch The Brave One? -- William Timberman

Lol. You're a hoot Timberman. Don't get your panties in a bunch. I just get a kick out of seeing the faux earnestness. Oh and don't worry, anyone who regularly reads and comments in UT's comments section knows it's all talk. No one actually expects you to do anything (me included at this point). You are safe here in your "safe house."

Even better

That is accomplished by writing "lol" on blogs at people engaged in pre-revolutionary efforts. The actual carrying out of the actions is unnecessary to achieve the desired, highly personalized goals. -- GlennGreenwald

lol. (Honestly chuckling here)

I laugh because it is laughable.

Thinking inside the box

I completely agree with all the criticism of the Democrats capitulation. However, this republic can't survive 4 or 8 more years of a Republican in the white house, so unfortunately, for the time being, we need to settle for the lesser of two evils. -- pantanal

I disagree. The way I see it, this "representative republic," as it is now and the direction it is headed, can and will survive until the rest of the world finally has had enough of it. It is thriving at the moment actually. Doing anything and everything it cares to do. What we imagined we had, either never actually existed or has been turned into something that doesn't have to "survive" Republicans and Democrats. This republic is a product of those two parties, not one suffering under and/or about to be destroyed because of their "leadership." Both parties are, and have been, building it for the last what? 50 years or so?

Settling for the lesser of two evils is simply an attempt to "work within the system," that both Republicans and Democrats have created, and thus amounts to an agreement that things should continue on, as they have been, for the foreseeable future.

I can't either...

Is there anything left to say about how barren and worthless these Senate Democrats are? I can't find anything.

-- Glenn Greenwald

So, are we there yet?

Republicans

They're the only Christians, but they never heard of Blessed are the peacemakers, let alone As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

Only they support the troops, but Max Cleland was blown up on his way to a beer, General Abizaid pandered to the Iranians, and the troops have no right to return home until they win GWB's war.

Only they understand the price of freedom, but criticizing the President in wartime is treason, habeas corpus and the Geneva Conventions are quaint, and its cute to say that The Constitution isn't a suicide pact.

They think family values are best served when 40% of American households are without health insurance, and Cuban parents can be deprived of custody of their children simply because they are Cuban.

Tax and Spend is anathema to them, but Borrow and Spend is fine, as long as the money goes to Halliburton, Lockheed-Martin or the Strategic Defense Illusion. A single-payer national health care system is socialism; no-bid cost-plus defense contracts are in the public interest.

Bill Clinton is a draft-dodger, GWB isn't. Burning the flag is unamerican; burning the Constitution is necessary now that 9/11 has changed everything.

Move-on is right. Piss on 'em. -- William Timberman

Fuckin'A.

I wonder what Move-on's response will be? Not to the Republicans of course -- what would be the point? No, I wonder what they will do now that the Democrats have sold them out. The very group that Move-on supports. I am wondering if they will take this kick in the balls like all good "progressives" and still support, fund-raise and campaign for Democrats?

Whoa -- is that legit Jim!? That is simply amazing. You wouldn't happen to have a link or some form of online citation would you? I would love to bookmark that. Thanks in advance if so.
