"par politician, part cult", accoeding to Geoff Elliott., Washington Correspondent of "The Australian"
[Read the article: How will it all end?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Elliott's article, from an objective perspective, hits the nail on the head. What is happening in the Democrat Party is extraordinary by any standards but I think it is a combination of ancient sorcery and modern glitz. There are also vestiges of "that old-time religion" in Elliott's reference to the miracle of the loaves and fishes but I'm surprised that there's no mention of the turning of water into wine as we are told happened at the wedding-feast in Cana (Canae). Yhe Arthurian legend, dormant since the time of JFK, has been resurrected, sceptics have suggested a Trojan horse but, so far, I haven;t seen any mention of the Midas touch, although the Obama campaign seems to be awash with money. To use a Biblical allegory, I gather that all of this is coming from "the widow's mite". All of this is mesmerising, of course, and highly entertaining to onlookers when just taken at face-value. I don't think Russia's Putin will be hugely impressed and Pakistan's "strong man" Musharaff will certainly remember Senator Obama@s statement about breaching Pakistan's borders if America finds it expedient to do so. Although this is serious, I'm inclined to laugh at what's going on in the U.S. For daring to express an opinion, I've had snarling comments that I'm a Hillary "shill", yesterday I was accused of equating Hillary with a Nazi although I had written about General Colin Powell's address to the UN on 5th February 2003 and pointing out that the excuse that Powell "wa only obeying orders" is the one that was used by Nazis at the Nuremburg Trials (for war criminals). I've also been told I use Botox (although I'd be more in favour of hyaluronic acid) and that I'm a member of Al Quaeda. If this is the sort of nonsense that passes for debate in the U.S. of A. I'm not surprised that a form of mass hysteria has taken possession of a large segment of your population. In my opinion, Arthur Miller's play 'The Crucible" should be a compulsory text in every American school, as a reminder and also a warning about "inspiration" and other far from luminous moments in history.

Was Hillary Clinton supposed to dispute the solemn words of the most senior military officer in America?
[Read the article: How will it all end?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is all arrant nonsense, of course. General Colin Powell had already inveigled other countries into America's war with Iraq by, putting it as mildly as possible, being economical with the truth. As a result of his deception when he foisted flawed "intelligence" on an unsuspecting world, Britain, Spain and Australia sent troops to support the Americans in Iraq. It's not only American military that has died there, you know. Blair (UK), Aznar (Spain) and Howard (Australia) have paid the price for believing the word of a man whose honesty should have been impeccable. The British public turned against Blair extremely quickly and he became known as "Dubya Bush's poodle". He has now retired from politics, his political legacy forever blooted because of his reliance on American "military intelligence". Aznar was put out of office in a general election which reflected the anger of the Spanish people, and Howard lost the Australian general election in the last twelve months. Thus, you have political leaders from right around the globe putting credence in the words of General Powell, based on false military intelligence, and yet some dullards seem to believe that Hillary Clinton should have challenged the most senior military officer in America and suggested that he was uttering falsehoods. This was a deliberate deception engineered to dupe the American people, panic-stricken after 9/ll. AND, not only that, General Powell was part of the diabolical machinations, whether you like it or not. He fooled the American Senate and also the governments of two other nations in the Anglophone world. The the whirlygig of time it's very convenient to forget how the French were besmirched by Americans for not supporting, holus-bolus, what they shrewdly saw as an American "adventure". Now, it seems, Hillary Clinton is to blame while Colin Powell can rest on his (somewhat mildewed) laurels. I did not realize how deeply deception had eaten into the souls of so many Americans and, I'll be specific, the Obama supporters who have no trouble at all with spreading malicious lies. THE FACTS ARE THERE, NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO DENY THEM.

That's lovely, Person. but I understand that Barack Obama was NOT a Senator in Feruary/March 2003
[Read the article: How will it all end?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Am I wrong about that, Person? If Senator Obama is as vigorously anti-war as his supporters believe, has he ever inveighed aginst the "top brass" Colin Powell who tried to bamboozle the UN and stiired up American and world fears about Iraq. It's very easy to demonise Dubya, Rumsfeld and Cheney - and I'm not saying they don't deserve it - but it would take much more courage for Barack Obama to include former General Colin Powell in that "rogues' gallery". Colin Powell was liked and respected but he allowed himself to be used as a propagandist for a shameful war. Incidentally. and this must not be forgotten, there were no Iraqis piloting those planes or complicit in the attacks on 9/ll. The leader of the group was Mohammed Atta, an Egyptian. Egypt was not invaded - and I'm certainly not suggesting that it should have been, but the neocons weren't interested in a stroll around the Pyramids. Egypt is not an oil-producer; Iraq is.
