I have no problem ind defending my comment on Barack Obama which you seem to be keen on misrepresenting. As far as I can recall - and I never bother re-reading old posts - I said that I did not join in the media-driven perception of his "handsomeness". From a woman's point of view, I noted some physical features which would surely be scoffed at in a female candidate. Trying to attribute any sinister motives to me shows very limited vision on your part. Don't you know that there are people on this earth who resist going with the flow? I also mentioned Colin Farrell, from Dublin, an actor regarded as "hot" but he wouldn't float my boat - that's probably because I don't like going with the flow.

As for my time, you gorgeous creature you, I'm a member of a contemplative order of nuns and I like to have a giggle behind Sr. Annunciata's back because she has described me as "bold". I used to be a lap-dancer before I heard "the call" and now I have to suffer for my sins. I'm clearly annoying you but absolutely thrilled that you're keeping an eye on my outpourings. I hope you've noticed that I never use foul language. Sr. Crustaceius would be furious if I erred from grace, in that respect.

  • Oh Anonmous - or is that your doppelganger?

Maureen Dowd, is it? Isn't she drooling all over Obama? Please be logical, if that's not asking for too much. Is it my fault that it says on the Internet that your beloved Senator wants to decriminalise marijuana? Why are you taking it out on me? Oh yes, you're American and so is Maureen Dowd. This Maureen, who is not hyphenated, has placed a bet on John McCain as the next President of the United States so as the expression is used here "You can put that in your pipe and smoke it". Before you get all in a lather about that, the reference was to tobacco. Btw, a battle of wits often has nothing at all to do with being funny. It's an argument which involes logic more than humour, although humour should also be welcomed in "this vale of tears". If I have a few moments to spare, I might be back again because I've had to take a vow of silence but that doesn't include the Internet, does it?

  • Brewmn, your language is uncouth and you are blaming me for what anyone can read on the Drudge Report

!'v heard stories from visitors here to the USA about some of the excesses of the Bush/Cheney "Homeland Security" protocol at the airports and lots of comment on the neocon paranoia but they are only trotting after you, brewmn. I challenge you to state where I said, either today or any other day, that Barack Obama used drugs. What I read on the Internet was/is there for everybody to see: that is that Senator Obama is/was in favour of decriminalising marijuana. I was thinking of the W. B. Yeats phrase "the delirium of the brave" in regard to some of the more fervent pro-Obama supporters who post on this site and others. I don't have to explain to you just because you don't get it. I'm too well-raised to call you any names. You play dirty and have a dirty tongue.

  • This is a dialogue of the deaf!

Anonmous p. 3 you just can't slither away like that. You did compare me to Maureend Dowd. That diva would be highly insulted to think that she was like anyone who's really Irish - although the Kennedys and others seem to use it as a brand-name

There has been much debate in the UK and elsewhere about the harmlessness or otherwise of marijuana Some respected people in the medical profession think that use is particularly dangerous for people who have a family history of schizophrenia. I'm no expert. Are you? Is Semator Obama's position based on sound scientific/medical evidence? That is what people should debate rather than travelling on a seemingly never-ending carousel. I don't have a vote in your election. How many times have I said that I'm not an American? I would not want Senator Obama to be leader of the free world until he's a more seasoned politician and his agenda was much less obscure than it is at the moment. If I'm correct, he's a junior senator and has no foreign policy that I could readily understand. Since the anger directed at me is coming from Obama supporters responding to my reference to an Internet statement on Obama's attitude to marijuana, perhaps you would be good enough to explain what it is..

  • Anonymous, have you got tunnel vision?

I've already siad I've put money on McCain but some of you automatically assume that because I'm not happy with the idea of a junior Senator becoming President with a mood-enhancing message and nothing much else I must be gobsmacked by Hillary. Yor domestic policies are your own business - I can't bear to think of partial-birth abortion - but surely Barack Obama should have well-researched facts about marijuana before giving it his imprimatur. It's late here now and it's been a hard day so I'm not hanging around to read how horrible John McCain is. Btw one of the most interesting persons I know is a 91 year old woman. Ithink the insults that have been hurled at Hillary Clinton are indecent and that's why I defend her. Margaret Thatcher, the "Iron Lady" never had to put up with the vulgarity and profanity that the female Democrat candidate is being subjected to; the Irish and the English have had their differences, to put it mildly, but, apart from the tabloid-redtop press, the British media is admirable.

I don't care what you smoke, snort or inject. I very much care that you could have someone in the White House who is completely clueless in global matters. Btw, I'm not "Kathleen etc. who was the symbol of the Irish nation once upon a time. I'm speaking for myself, nobody else.
