Debaser

Yes, Palin and Vogler were contemporaries, but he was dead before she got there. But you made my point, which is why I drew the analogy. There's no logical connection between any particular Protestant's beliefs, and views Luther held, nor do they have to support his statements.

Nor is there any logical connection between Sarah's beliefs and Vogler's views and statements. Plenty of people take part, given the majority of their policies are in state's rights, for reasons that have nothing to do with anything anti-American.

I'd say the KKK argument, because they enforce particular beliefs in their members, is far more akin to sitting in the pews of Jeremiah Wright. Or disbursing Ayers' grant money.

You don't seem to get that it is influence on people that counts. It is motives, it is intentions.

Credit where credit is due

Sarah knew the challenges she was facing within her family, and she went ahead and staked her career on standing up for what she believes, and lives. She is not afraid, and should be praised for her courage.

Sarah's already defined

You cannot define her, and that is why not only will she never drop off the ticket, but why she has generated a groundswell to the tune of $10 million over the weekend she was announced in campaign contributions. But the media hounds just don't know what to make of a true reformer, in the face of someone who's already proven that she is a true agent of change. So they make _up_ whatever they can.

But the truth is conservative America is beaten them to the punch, and that is why it was a stroke of genius. Nothing leaked about the Palin choice, Obama was caught completely unprepared, and while they and the media struggle to catch up, she has already galvanized the base. Christians and evangelical groups who don't need the media to know Sarah's values, women who are proud of her courage to accept the VP position despite the challenges of her family life, 2nd Ammendment groups and sportsmen who know she relates and supports them, parents of special needs children... Sarah is already defined.

Handwriting on the Wall

All the vehemnce here and in the liberal media aimed against Sarah shows only how much you fear her.

Original article: How did Sarah Palin do?

She did what she had to do.

She did her job. She introduced herself, connected with various micro-electorates, explained the true nature of her experience, and showed she is unafraid to fill the traditional role of the VP speech and take direct shots at Obama. The more people search for criticisms and technicalities, the more it just seems the Obama camp is afraid of her.

Sarah did what she was supposed to do.

She introduced herself, connected with various groups, explained the true nature of her experience, and showed she wasn't afraid to fill the traditional role for the VP speech and take direct shots at Obama. This was her job, and she did it very well. Beyond that she kept and built on the momentum of the evening.

Expecting her to answer a laundry list of issues in addition is a little bit much.

No one demeaned community organizing. Only the presumption on Obama's part that this superceded her civic and actual executive experience. Everyone in the liberal media, and Obama himself, have been smug because she was unknown and from a small town, acting as it were self-evident that that a small town mayor and state governor do nothing of importance, because the town and state aren't heavily populated. All that happened was this was turned right back around on them.

Everyone

...has spent a week sneering at, dismissing and smearing Sarah Palin, her husband, her daughter, her town, her state, her work... now she takes one poke back and everyone cries about being insulted. they just didn't expect her to be tough, and they're afraid. Even Obama's on the defensive, defending his record against the #2, much less approaching McCain.

Sarah

Palin is far closer to Ronald Reagan. But the agenda here isn't about what she actually represents, is it.

Convenient twist

Thanks, doc, for all the facts on Down Syndrome, which have no place in the article, beyond covering the fact that you haven't much to talk about.

Are you so self-absorbed that you cannot see all the contention on this stagnant issue, and all the points that you twist to your agenda, are based on the vocabulary in which it's framed?

You say she had a choice, but she obviously did not. Giving her information prior to the birth didn't give her a choice to do what she believes to be infanticide.

And taking RvW out of the way and returning the issue to the states would finally allow decisions to be made so the culture can move on.

There's more to it

It's amazing people here will vote solely on Bush hatred and Obama infatuation. There is more at stake then there's ever been, and last night you saw a man who has faced what is coming.

Convenient

to leave out how few people think Obama is not ready or qualified for the presidency.
