  • Life in the Big City - Scam -

[Read the article: My new roommate arrived ... with mom attached!]

It is very easy to see from the responses here, which people have ever lived in a big city in a multiple young roomate situation before. I had multiple roomates in multiple apartments for 15 years (finally live like a real grown-up now:) all in San Francisco, and let me tell you. this is some kind of a scam. The letter writer feels creeped out, and rightfully so, she was lied to, plain and simple. from dealing with all the situations that developed from people crashing on couches, looking for new roomates, subletting, and just dealing with people on the street, my crazy-radar is set to a hair trigger, and my BS detector is very sensitive. To the person who wrote the leter, TRUST YOUR INSTINCT - these people misrepresented who would be living there, they are evasive to your questions. Obviously the "mom" needs a place to stay, there is probably a reason why she couldn't find one on her own, such as trouble with debt, the law, mental health, whatever, sucks to be her, but not your problem. small towners and "farmgirls" here will say i am too cynical and pissy, but have you ever been in a similar situation? no, have I?, yes.

tell them to deal with this and make new arrangements. Be carefull, if the mom stays any longer, she would have Squatters rights" in San Francisco, and become hard to legally remove. don't be surprised if you start getting hassled at all hours by bill collectors, looking for "mom" months or a year after they go, hapened to me...

  • You People all sound so nice and sweet.

so perhaps someone here can help me. I am sick and have huge hospital bills, and you people sound so nice. i don't have a bank account, and my parents just died, and left me a check for $100,000, because i have bad credit and no bank account, i need someone else to deposit the check for me, and give me the money in cash, i will let you keep $10,000 ! so if you just give me cash in the amount of $90,000, i will give you a check for $100,000. YOU WIN! and i can pay my bills for cancer treatment. please help, i have no family or friends, and need your help.

    -Thanks in advance.

What if the kid threatened to turn the mom into the cops for child abuse for making him eat his brocoli or something?

That "Dare" Brainwashing is really really bad. They encourage every kid to try to snoop around their parents stuff to find something to turn them in to the police for, its right out of Orwells 1984---

I mean he first threatened to involve the police to get his way when he was 10 for chrissakes... where will it stop if you let your kid get whatever they want by threatening you with arrest and imprisonment, what kind of son does that?

keep your eyes on the prize, what the heck is wrong with you? Some of you so called dem voters sure seem gullible. The republicans must be loving this! And why is Salon helping to perpetuate this myth? Are some of you really going to be distracted by this non news? and not vote for Obama or actually vote for McCain? Are you really going to let them talk you into snatching defeat from the jaws of victory again?
