you know... i read my first post and i have to say, i kind of sounded like a dick. so i am sorry about that. let me take back the "sorry if you are upset democrats lost" comment - because i am a democrat and i am actually sorry that democrats lost myself heheh.
i didnt actually mean to attack anyone, except the person who was making fun of PA voters. I don't agree that pa voters are crazy. I think it's a big state with alot of good people. (ok maybe a little crazy for santorum - but hopefully he gets out or gets struck by lightning or whatever).
i see people zeroed in on my "but he's a republican comment" - ok you are right - he is still a senator. i was kind of joking there because what it comes down to for me is this...
i just don't think Specter is that bad a senator and nothing in the article and no one's comments have swayed that opinion yet.
i think he has done alot of good stuff. maybe i am wrong... maybe the specter watch list is a good idea. maybe i am ignorant. i am willing to change my opinion. i think he is more a classical conservative than a neocon and frankly that don't bother me. i mean, i think ALL politicians are inherently evil liar sociopaths... but as far as that goes, i think he is one of the less evil.
i also think that if we really want anyone to do anything, against bush we need a democrat majority - we can't rely on a 75 year old republican senator from PA to do that job (sorry - thats just a fact). that's all i really meant when I made that comment. Yes, senators should be great people. Yay senators!
So again - not trying to apologize for Specter or make people think he is cool or dope or fresh or whatever you kids call it these days. And I'm not trying to have static with any mofos. I just wanted to voice that I don't think he is a bad Senator and that I think Compromise is something that people should learn the art of better because its a lost art these days.
hahahh - dude - arlen specter concern troll?
if you are talking about me, i thought i was trying to sound reasonable. i didnt mean to offend anyone.
fine - fuck arlen specter! i hope he fucking puts up or shuts up that wimp bastard! there... do i fit in now?
I don't really see why everyone is so upset about Specter like he is the devil or something.
He seems to be a more traditional type of Senator and I wish there were more of them. And good for him if he is interested in "compromise."
snip from article> "For Specter, "compromise" has become another term for victory, not defeat. "
That's one thing a Republic is supposed to entail at a fundamental level... a compromise between the majority and the minority.
Alot of people accused Moynihan of getting nothing done and being more interested in process. Good for him, he was a great Senator in the good tradition and I wish there were more like him. I doubt he would fare so well with the current Bush administration either.
The problem really is that, although traditional Senators might be interested in compromising on an issue to give benefit to both sides, the Bush administration isn't interested in compromise at all.
Really, the letters on here sound like a bunch of bitter lunatics. Believe me, I'm bitter about Bush too but focusing anger on Specter is kind of pointless, I mean, he is a REPUBLICAN, what do you expect? But I don't think he is a bad person and I think he is dealing with alot of mess and frustration caused by Bush et al. I think he has for a long time had the interests of Pennsylvania at heart, rather than the interests of some elite group, so whoever posted that crap about Pennsylvania voters being crazy or whatever... you don't know what you are talking about, you sound stupid, you don't understand complexity, and Pennsylvania is doing quite fine all things considered. Pennsyvania is a moderate state and did vote blue in the last presidential election. Specter is not the same as Santorum and Santorum could well be on his way out.
Ok - whatever, my basic opinion is that Specter is not the evil person everyone seems to be making him out to be. Sorry if you are frustrated that Democrats lost. Try taking your anger out on a fucking Democrat for having no plan.
(that's really all i had to say)
colbert was funny and he spoke the truth. i hear retardedly stupid shit all the time that people are laughing at on tv. notably - george bush hasn't made a joke as funny as even one of colberts worst in his whole life, except kiss ass press people laugh all the time. even rumsfeld - who makes me scared when he smiles - gets laughter from the press corps.
anyway - i am sorry but colbert was funny. it just shows how out of touch the press corps and the govt is with the common american if they didnt get his jokes. what a bunch of crap.
argh - whatever - i am used to it. people are stupid.
None of these companies are in a tough situation. What is tough about making money? I am sure they are crying all the way to the bank.
What I garned from this article is that these companies are actively contributing to the repression of a group of people. I know that's not what I want to do when I grow up.
