mine was...

ok - i didn't turn out to be a literary critic obviously, but i do remember which book first totally got me lost in my own world and into reading and i feel compelled to blurt it out here haha

- Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. All his books were really dreamy to me as a kid. ahhhhhh...

Original article: The egos have landed

great article

oddly, I never read salon's music or art articles, preferring this site for the politics. however, i happened to start reading this here article and realized that a music reviewer was, for once, speaking a language i could understand.

lo and behold i check the author's name and its simon reynolds! no wonder why! this guy knows ALOT about the production of AND history of techno & electronic music and here he has written a rock and r&b review that an electronic music lover could really get into.

funny is all - hope to see more reviews from this author.

Original article: I Like to Watch

so happy people are talking about the young ones!

that was the first thing that popped in my mind when i read this.

the fact that 3 people piped in on it that reference leads me to believe i have something in common with the salon readership hehe.

what goes around comes around i suppose. the young ones was also about a total bunch of selfish losers. the show was awesome.

the only thing better was the skit 2 episode from the comic strip (with young ones people and Jeniffer Saunders) - BAD NEWS!

i was just watching the episode of the young ones on youtube when motorhead makes an appearance!

Original article: Sarah Palin, ornery Alaskan

one of the interesting things to note about neuroticism

That dark blue strip basically maps Appalachia and the path the scots and irish took as they moved into that area.

Original article: The dominatrix

this is without a doubt...

The best article I have EVER read on Salon.

(I count Glenn Greenwald as blog posts otherwise I couldn't say this).

i call BULLSHIT on all of them!

Thursday, August 28, 2008 05:38 AM

ok i read the article...

it wasn't that bad. at least there was this line:

"Don't pay too much attention to do's and don'ts. "

Thursday, August 28, 2008 05:34 AM

Obama doesn't need your advice. This is just stupid.

Monday, August 25, 2008 09:19 PM

Original article: Cracking Code Pink

haters

Code pink acts like this because they want to. It's their life and that's how they want to live it.

Get off your ass if you have a problem with it and "start your own scene."

Original article: Rush Limbaugh was right

nothing subtle about this comic

It's not good satire. It's not subtle. I am pretty sure SNL could have pulled something like this off but the New Yorker gets a big fat fail!

Tuesday, June 10, 2008 07:42 AM

you are probably right that it doesnt matter...

But the thing that seems so unfair is if there was a Democrat in the oval office, and a fringe far right republican was presenting articles of impeachment for even the most ridiculous reasons, it would be HUGE news!

USA is so bike unfriendly...

And it sucks...

I don't even own a bike but its because biking in rural USA is absurd.

I often hear a lot of people talk about how it would not be possible to do in USA what they do in Europe. Their argument is that countries like the Netherlands are flat and therefore more conducive to biking. They say USA could never have bike paths everywhere because of terrain. This is total crapola. I was visiting a friend in Mindelheim, Germany, which is a rural and not completely flat part of the country (Unterallgäu). There are bike paths EVERYWHERE. They go through farm fields, parks, along the streets. It's amazing and it made riding a bicycle a pleasure.

Not to mention the train system (Die Bahn), kicks Amtrack's sorry ass.

And the climate argument? Montreal and Quebec in general is LIGHTYEARS ahead of any city in the USA as far as biking goes.

How awesome is their green route - one of the best bike routes in the WORLD: http://www.routeverte.com/ang/

Yeah so it can be done if cities did any planning at all. I agree with you here Leonard. It is SO frustrating. ARGHGH.

Original article: So long, Canada

thank you for writing this article

the border with canada is ridiculous to cross. our dept of homeland security is THE RUDEST "security" force i have encountered in travelling through any civilized nation. it is completely unreal how much unchecked power they have and they wield with impunity.

the only thing i didnt like about this article is how it made me seethe with memories of those fucking assholes.

we live in a police state - just take a drive to canada and back and you will experience it.

Original article: The rubes and the elites

screw this article

you are a douchebag. i live in west virginia. you BETTER BELIEVE people are bitter and upset that the government does JACK SHIT for them.

What Obama said is 100% true and the MSM is missing the point. Normal Americans, however, are not.

Saturday, April 5, 2008 07:08 AM

so what do we do?

i read this column daily. i read media matters. i read the indypendent. i haven't subscribed to cable for 3 years now because the news is such a sham.

sometimes out of frustration i write to cnn online and ask them things like - why is the bbc covering our economy better than you? sometimes i write my elected representatives.

i have to admit, i actually prefer drudge to any of the major news sources because at this point i think drudge is actually BETTER than them. (depressing thought).

i hope things change. i really do. i would love to know any proactive steps others are taking to try to change the establishment and open people's eyes.
