Great, but...

"...and write at least two posts per week to be featured on its main page and Politics page."

Down from the 4-5 he used to write for the Post, but I'm still delighted that he will be overseeing four reporters. I would love to see HuffPost overtake Politico as the (perceived) primary source for what's going on in Washington.

As Froomkin lands on his feet and is looking at a bright future, does anyone care to guess where Fred Hiatt will be 5 years from now?

I'm a Greenwaldian

Over the years you have done more to open my eyes to what is going on in the MSM and in Congress. That is worth more to me than I can ever send you. I will contribute all that I can afford with no preconditions. Let's just say this is money you've already earned.

If you write your columns poolside in a lush and relaxing setting, I COULDN'T CARE FREAKING LESS. The quality of your work and tireless efforts to hold our "leaders" accountable speaks for itself.

Please keep the "contribute" button on your site (like most other bloggers do).

I scrubbed the Post yesterday

I subscribed to the WaPost in '74 when I moved to DC for grad school. I was from a small town and went to school in a small town and having a world class newspaper to devour every morning was ecstasy, but finally had to cancel my subscription in 2003 because of the Post's support of Bush's invasion. I still visited their website because of Froomkin and a few others. Yesterday I scrubbed their website for good and sent them a letter.

The villagers in Washington are getting nervous. I believe they have a lot in common with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Both are under attack. Both see themselves in danger of losing control, and both are beginning to strike back hard.

Proud to be a "Hard Lefty"

The more I think about it the happier I am that the MSM is linking the outrage over torture and the demand for an investigation to the left or hard left.

There are millions of average Americans out there who are outraged by the torture memos and want this investigated. Every time they hear the MSM identify this issue with the left these average Americans are going to feel less animosity toward us (if they had any to begin with). I think this can only help us change people's minds. Some will eventually begin identifying themselves as liberals.

The MSM doesn't realize it yet (maybe they do), but this issue - torture - in only going to gain momentum. The minute those torture memos were released, Bush's fate was sealed - and those who enabled and encouraged it. As the Marcy Wheelers and other dig and dig and dig, we are going to learn some hideous facts about how and why this happened. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it now (which is probably why the right is in full DEFCON 1 stage of outrage). I have no doubt that the full truth will eventually emerge and it will be so hideous that Congress and the DOJ will have to investigate fully (if we don't the international community will).

Glad to see the outrage, wish it had been directed at those who tortured instead

I'm delighted to see that people have finally found an issue that has triggered their anger. It's amazing to read the reactions of people from all over the country (and over the political spectrum), the rage is real and the rage is deep. I'm also enjoying the spontaneous St Vitus dance events that have broken out in Congress in the past week. They are obviously shaken (but still clueless).

I just wish this hadn't exploded just after the leaked International Red Cross report that made it official: we tortured!

This, in my opinion, is far worse than bonuses paid to a bunch of overpaid financial analysts. We were just starting to see some momentum develop for a serious investigation of the Bush administration's torture policies when the bonus issue exploded on the scene.

My hope is that this outrage isn't about the bonuses per se, but a reaction to the sudden recognition that our political, media, and corporate leaders have been shamelessly scamming us for almost 30 years. I hope this is just the beginning of a movement, like the slow unstoppable flow of magma down the side of a volcano, targeting the Washington villagers below.
