  • At least it wasn't a smooch fest

[Read the article: Letterman vs. O'Reilly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Sure beats Jon Stewart's interview with him, that was disappointing.

  • Gore in '08

[Read the article: "America's Constitution is in grave danger"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Please, Gore, run in '08 and just be yourself like in this speech and tell your handlers to buzz off! I don't want to see Biden or Hillary on the ticket, but don't want to see the 2000 Gore either, rather the 2003 to present day Gore.

    Regards

  • Growing a spine

[Read the article: Democrats won't filibuster Alito, but why not?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Well I hear the arguement about how this could come back to haunt the Dems in negative ads, but rolling over and playing dead every time Republicans push something hasn't served the Democrats well to this date. I say go ahead and fight, we let some pretty extreme judges onto the appeals court to stave off this so called "nuclear option" early last year, just so we could retain the filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee. This is almost certainly the last nominee Bush will be putting forward and if this clear extremist isn't worthy of a filibuster then there is no point in having it anyhow.

  • Give her a break

[Read the article: Lucan vs. Kerrigan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

She does say she was shy as a child and had to overcome that. I have to do the same thing too and when attention is on someone like that they tend to focus more on what people are thinking and how they are coming off than the words themselves. The more confidence you have being interviewed the better off you are focusing on your choice of words.

    Regards

  • C'mon Snowe!

[Read the article: Don't count Cheney out: Under pressure, senators waffle on spying probe]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Olympia Snowe is one of the few Republicans I respect because she votes her own mind but if she lets herself get strongarmed now I'm going to lose respect for her.

Seemed to pertain to the issue:

  • 130

[Read the article: A brief cameo by Richard Pombo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I live in Livermore and that is the worst road heh, takes like 3 hours to go 50 miles as the crow flies. Good place to take a telescope though, there's an observatory at the peak as well. With that terrain though only a Pombo would consider turning it into a freeway.

    Regards

  • Shield

[Read the article: Finale wrap-up: "The Shield"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am a big fan and have been since season 1. I watched it because I enjoyed him in "The Commish" and I must say it was a very different show heh. I still dislike the shaky cam quite a bit but either they've toned it down a bit or I'm starting to not notice it as much. I hate to see 7 be its last season, all the good shows are ending, Rome, Sapranos, Shield, what do I watch now? Smarter than a 5th grader, American Idol, Creepy bald Howie Mandel? No thanks. Sounds like I should try the Wire and Rescue Me though.

    Regards

  • Covert

[Read the article: Was Plame covert? Conservative commentators weigh in]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was under the impression she ran a front company for the CIA which assisted in finding weapon proliferation. Exposing her also exposed the true identity of the front company and all people associated with it including overseas agents no?

  • To be fair

[Read the article: Clinton wins the Spielberg primary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Snowe breaks ranks probably more than any other Senator. She stood out to me as one of the lone sane Republicans that voted against impeachment. She seems to keep to her convictions, though I don't agree with most of them. She has my respect in a body of people not terribly worth of respect.

    Regards

  • Raiding Hogger

[Read the article: Tony Cartoons: It's Warcraft]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The had Warcraft consultants, no doubt geeks like us. Raiding Hogger is an inside joke, the big end game raiding guilds will often say something like "We should go raid Hogger now" after you do poorly on a raiding boss or something to that effect. Even my Horde guild says it and we shouldn't even know about Hogger.

    Regards

  • Cheating

[Read the article: Thank you, Hank Aaron]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was raised to not respect cheaters and If Bonds used steroids (I try to give him the benefit of the doubt in spite of the overwhelming evidence) he did cheat. However baseball as an institution let all the fans down by allowing steroid use to flourish when it was clear it was taking place. As an employee to the professional baseball field you would have to also use steroids to stay competitive. While it doesn't make it right I think it shifts the blame from Bonds specifically to the MLB and as a result it is only fitting his record is valid. It's unfortunate he'll be labeled a cheater because before his "change" he was a very well rounded and decent player in Pittsburg.

    Regards

  • The tie

    [Read the article: Mitt who?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

They might be in a statistical tie but everyone knows every skeleton in Hillary's closet but most people don't know about Guiliani. If he wins the primary he has no where to go but down, especially when they find out his stance on abortion and gay rights.

    Regards

  • Let him

[Read the article: It was a joke (we think)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If he wants to become Prime Minister of Russia, I say let him! He should take his Presidential library so he'll have lots of reading material.

    Regards

  • Recess Appointment

[Read the article: Two can play that game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Democrats would have had to been the majority at the time of Bolton's appointment to prevent it with a single Senator, which they didn't have at the time.

  • RE: Recess Appointment

[Read the article: Two can play that game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I believe what Schumer was referring to was an interim appointment rather than a recess appointment. Clement served as interim AG after Gonzo left and I believe interim is good for 120 or 200 days after being placed but Bush could play musical interims until the end of his term if he wanted to with all sorts of political hacks.

Not that I'm defending Feinstein or Schumer for their cowardace at a time when the majority were trying to stand against the White House for once.
