It's all a game

of good cop vs bad cop. To democrats, the republican party is the bad cop and the democratic party is the good cop. To republicans the democratic party is the bad cop and the republican party is the good cop. In reality they both work for the same organization of wealth and power to keep us under control. The difference is an illusion necessary to maintain that control.

"We won the fourth quarter and the third quarter"

Fine, but clinton is trending down and obama is trending up, put your spin in that.

long race to nomination

There goes Hillary's 'inevitable' nomination, thank God.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008 01:51 PM

The new Republican candidate

That's the Clintons. Trash, smear, undermine. Yep, the new republicans.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008 01:58 PM

Of course they will contribute big bucks

They've learned just how lucrative the office can be, and they will without a doubt get it all back if she is elected. Ah the joys of selfless public service!

about the ugly pictures

I hope they find the Dorian Grey before the election.

Just another republican

that hates America's freedom. Why are these people as common as dirt? Are they allied with the terrorists that hate America's freedom?

It's not rocket science, unlike some claim

Put on a sweater. Do you get warmer? That's all there is to global climate change. The CO2 we have added to the atmosphere acts like a blanket to keep in more heat. Put on a sweater and tell me you didn't get warmer.

So what's the problem?

All evangelicals know that God will protect Israel, His choosen people. If these people are calling for the US to protect Israel does it mean they have lost faith in their God?

Friday, March 7, 2008 11:01 AM

I think it means they want to fighting with God's people, and not against them.

What does that mean?

Friday, March 7, 2008 11:16 AM

kufir77 says

'want to defend and fight for the "good guys". Get it?'

No, actually I don't. When I hear the garbage man comming, I don't rush out into the street to help him empty the garbage bacause I know he can handle it. When I buy groceries I don't offer to get behind the register to ring it up because I know the cashier can handle it. When I see the meter man comming I don't meet him at the meter box to help him read the meter because I know he can do the job. If evangelicals think they need to help God then they don't think God is capable of protecting Israel. Were not talking about helping God's people, we're talking about helping God, and only a people without faith could think that is necessary.

Friday, March 7, 2008 11:51 AM

So shouldn't the Israelis themselves sit around and do nothing, because they know that God will take care of it?

I think the Jews and Christians have different beliefs, but perhaps you can correct me on that. Reading the 'Left Behind' series (some of them at least), there is no mention of the U.S. helping God, just his doing the work by Himself.

As for "the analogy is typical liberal thinking", you are clearly to stupid to understand the analogy. The analogy is to not needing to help someone in the exercise of their profession, in this case 'let someone else do the dirty work' really means letting someone do the job they are employed to do without interference. Perhaps you would like to empty the garbage and cost the man his job?

After this I promise I will stop feeding the troll

Original article: Bomb, bomb Iran?

-- blank-

Yep, much better to wait until the war starts to discuss it. That's the way some Americans prefer it: with hindsight rather than foresight, because less thinking is involved.

Doesn't this require a treaty, signed off on by Congress?

And isn't that unlikely? Oh wait, this administration doesn't hold to the Constitution, and Congress doesn't care. So I guess it could happen.

Original article: McCain's tax troubles

Should McCain be held to a different standard?

Of course he should, for chrissake, he's a Republican. That means that the author of this piece is to blame, we will soon be hearing about that!

Thursday, July 10, 2008 07:08 AM

I think I've just decided to vote for McCain, here's why

We've just experienced what 6 years of one party control of both houses of congress and the presidency can do and it is not a pretty picture. This has lead me to believe no party should be allowed this much control. Having gone through The Thieves complete control of government, do we now want to experience the complete control of government by The Cowards? If Barak had shown himself more than a coward maybe, but that didn't happen, so no thanks.

Original article: Sabotage in Guantánamo

Are you out of your mind?

joey says "For all of you who are concerned about the rule of law, preserving the presumption of 'innocent until proven guilty,' or respect for due process... where have you been? Those things are mythological appendages, like phantom limbs, in out criminal justice system"

Sir, your attitude has done more to destroy America's freedom than all of the terrorists, past present and future, could ever hope to accomplish. Your palpable fear is more dangerous than everyone in Gitmo put together. How did you become so fearful? Was it the cries of 'be very afraid' from the Bushleague administration? Whatever it is, I fear you far more than I fear terrorists.

Original article: Religion is poetry

Athiests and Christians are almost exactly the same

Of the 10,000 religions that man has created, Christians disbelieve 9,999 of them, athiests disbelieve 10,000 of them. We differ by only .01%.

Picking California's pocket

Note that the initiative he paid to get onto the ballot in California this November benefits his company; he crafted the initiative so that only his company can meet the requirements.

Jkalos

You teach logic, but don't know how illogical it is to post a vacuous, content free screed? That does not compute!

A proposal

As I feared, this was a somewhat boring article with little new to add to the debate. So I went to the letters, where there is usually more insite to be found than in an article like this, and they were a much better read. So how about Salon organizing a cooperative article on this subject, based on submissions from Salon readers? Let Salon readers offer their best insites on either side of the debate, and a Salon editor can edit and organize the submissions into a coherent whole? I bet the 'wisdom of the masses' would result in a better read with more to say than any single author could.
