An analysis of the effect of government spending on the economy during the great depression is more convincing evidence than that CBO report. It provides no evidence of anything, but it says what you want, so I expect you are happy with it. I suggest that it is a waste of taxpayer money.

I like Elephatman's idea..

He wrote:

Clearly, only one thing to do. Start a 'Truth and Reconciliation Commission' to investigate the whole Obama administration.

And refer charges against Barack Obama to the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague.

Well, not exactly just like that, bit it is now clear that it is necessary to put some real pressure on Obama. Bush-lite is not acceptable.

NYT:...that psychological difficulties are treated as disciplinary infractions...

I do not think that "drive them crazy, and then punish them" counts as anything less than torture. You want us to consider that the injuries are due to standard treatment for insanity. Why would we be holding an insane person in Gitmo unless the condition was caused by being there? Sorry, no excuses.

Baloney! Buying and selling investments is a regular event for many, especially those who are well off. Where do you come up with this crap?

Londonlad (Amerigo, Calimine)

Binyam Mohamed comes across as remarkably sane in that brief interview. But never mind, those of us who doubt that his injuries are from necessary restraint during episodes of extreme insanity are ungovernable leftists.

Time will tell.

Let us hope so. There is no good reason to think that it will. It was lies from top to bottom during the Bush administration. The clean break from that time that many expected has not happened. There is no reason to give the benefit of doubt to those who continue to hide what has happened. Nor is there any reason to think that what has happened is any better than it appears to some of us.

It is just amazing...

...how much press coverage of the Obama administration is like that of the previous administration. Where are all those attack dogs that come out when the democrats are in charge? There is at least one difference: the president is articulate.

Well, I will be the first to admit that I have a crystal ball, and it says you are dead wrong. It says Krugman would have said the same thing. Of course, it does not tell me much about motivation. When I asked it if he was moved by economics or a giant ego, it just laughed, and said if I needed it to say whose economics is right, I was too dumb to make good use of anything it says. They can be like that.

The bipartisan myth is busted...

...even with a press mostly owned by the right wing. When the right wing bought much of the press and continued to berate it as liberal, it destroyed a precious public forum. Without this, how much more one-sided could the percentages be?

Meaning two of "myth" is "a widely held but false belief or idea". But, of course, you know better.

If you are not financially ready to retire, then even you, or those your parody represents, will lose big if a real collapse occurs. It is amusing to read that it will be the poor guy's fault. The folks you represent always blame the poor, those with the least power. That you are appallingly ignorant, outside of some little window of expertise you might have, never occurs to you.

and am considered something of an expert in the Austrian School (VERY published)

Very full of yourself, too. Oh, right, that is the fault you attribute to others. The Austrian school of economics is your area of expertise, fine. But that does not mean it works. Governments cannot stimulate an economy? The fact is that they have, and can do it again, but there is some level of uncertainty about how well it will work. It is hard to interpret FDR's spending in the GD, followed by WWII, in any other way. Unless your school of economics forbids that interpretation as a violation of its fundamental laws. Then just take the logic around the circle again, ignoring the fact that you know nothing outside of your little area of expertise. Who knows, you might get going so fast you will fly off the track.

You need to use numbers computed in the same way.

....Both the number of unemployed persons (11.6 million) and the unemployment rate (7.6 percent) rose in January.

Now throw out of the calculation children and retired people because they do not work. See anything else that needs to be changed?

Make it go away!

You cannot. If someone as unfit to be president as W could attract worship from more than a few, then why would Obama not receive the same from untold millions? Be glad only a few of them post here. And be aware that they can no better see what they are doing than Bush supporters can.

And now that Rush Limbaugh declared himself TEH REPUBLICAN live on at least two networks, is it not clear that Obama needs all the worship that he can get? No? Of course it is. Once it comes down to "worship thy leader", the only way we can stop the "rule of law" from becoming the "rule of men" is to convert our leaders to gods.
