And even if it were 5 watts, that is not very much. Also remember that in the winter, the power you use contributes to heating your house. In the summer, if you use AC, it is multiplied up by several times because it has to be removed inefficiently. If you worry about small amounts of power consumption, emphasize conservation in the summer.

55 watts! Wow! That should certainly be stated on the label in big red letters. What a waste, especially in the summer.

The battery would charge when the TV is on, then operate the standby mode and turn on the TV on request.

-- StefanMuc

But the recharging takes energy. Unless you can find some way to use energy that the TV would otherwise be wasting, you have saved nothing. In fact , you have wasted it. Charging a battery is not 100% efficient.

Not so fast!

If the main reason for McP difficulties is the economy, then why need anything else have changed? Show me some proof that this stuff is not coming back after a few years. I do not think that you can do that.

I am afraid we are going to hear....

this govern from the center crap from a lot of democrats, too. Giving in to the right has become too much of a habit. It is time to get democrats up at five in the morning and march them around the mall until they grow a backbone.

I hate it when I have to agree with notorbitboy. Bit we all know that Obama is not even a liberal (a socialist! Hah!), and moving any more to the right would be a disaster.

Digby's take...

...on this is so perceptive (as usual). So what is the strategy for minimizing the impact of the "conservative hissy fits"? It must involve convincing the lazy press that they cannot just broadcast them with no reality check. I think it will be more important than ever to put pressure on the MSM.

But...

..it is necessary to conduct a thorough analysis of all state contests to see if there is any evidence of fraud. Not saying that there is any, just want to be sure.

By the way, I do not agree with your statement that the poll results that you showed were extremely accurate. There does appear to be a small bias. If they were truly accurate, the "Actual results v. polls" should show Obama up on some and McCain up on others. Obama's performance was systematically underestimated. This indicates a bias, some other kind of inaccuracy in addition to the error from the size of the random sample. It is not a very big bias, but it does appear to be slightly significant.

Another way of saying this is this: One poll has a predicted result and a predicted error. Nothing more to say. But the results of many polls can be used to look for bias in the group of polls as a whole. The results of many polls should tend towards the predictions on average if the only errors are the random ones from the limited size of the random samples. These do not. It is not surprising that there are other errors, but it does mean one should be cautious about polls.

I would gladly trade away these "excesses" in the results for Obama in exchange for another Senate seat or two.

But Ondelette...

it still seems to be that Glenn's point is correct. Exit polls would be able to demonstrate it better or perhaps disprove it. But the opinion polls, to the extent limited by their expected errors, due show what he is saying.

Doom Doggie

In that I'm sure there's a slough of people dumb enough to fall for it.

And many so dumb are on your side of the isle. Example: believing that anyone but the very rich and powerful benefits from a republican administration.

Also: I am confused by your use of the word "slough". Would you explain?

Making a list...

of things for Obama's "to do" list (in no particular order, yet).

1. DOMA

2. FISA

3. Sign up again with the Hague.

........OK, there are many more. What do you folks think?

It is going to take a lot of pressure, worth more now than ever though.

I agree that elephantman knows he is lying. He is, after all, a troll. Perhaps this article could help relieve the drudgery of his task: http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/black_man_given_nations.

Doom Doggie: Are you going to spend the next 4 years railing at the idiots who lost?

Speaking of trolls...

No, we are gong to spend the next four years trying to find ways to get the best government we can. Your side has left an incredible mess.

Obama is ruining the economy before he even sets foot in the White House.

At last, you have made a statement to match this one:

There's interesting evidence that terrorist Ayers wrote Obama's first memoir:

It takes some kind of perverse skill to put so much ignorance into so few words.

I actually did read the link you provided then. I thought maybe you were the one who had not read it, and therefore had not seen how bad it is.

Stock market down: It certainly does not mean that Obama is ruining the economy. It is just as likely that a bunch of heavy investors think that they are less likely to get their losses covered by your tax money. That would be good for the economy in the long run.
