I hope Sanford stays on the job

I hope Mark Sanford stays on the job.

I hope he stays on the job and gives weekly press conferences mooning over his Argentinean lover.

I hope he stays on the job and is the Republican nominee to be Sarah Palin’s VP in 2012.

I hope Sarah Palin and Mark Sanford are the faces of the Republican Party for the next generation.

The insiders’ prerogative

Like all derogatory terms, those to whom it is applied routinely use the word of themselves as a show of both togetherness and defiance. The word applies to them and they know it, and they are going to show the outsiders that they cannot be hurt by the word by using it themselves: An “in your face” demonstration both of ownership and rejection.

That is why Appalachians can call themselves “Hillbilly”.

And why Southerners can call themselves “Rednecks”.

It is even why Garrison Kiellor can make fun of Minnesotan Lutherans.

But let a “non member” of the club use the word and it is the height of insult. Ms. Berman is just joining the club.

The reason is obvious.

George Will is calling for a pullout from Afghanistan for one reason and one reason only, so that Republicans can champion Sarah Palin for president in 2012 on the slogan, “Barak Obama lost Afghanistan”. Anyone who believes that any opinion or recommendation voiced by Mr. Will, or any other Conservative, is motivated by anything other than Republican electoral advantage has not been paying attention for the past twenty years.

Truth is irrelevant.

Ms. Cheney was projecting FoxNews into the mainstream reporting media (such as it remains). Whether or not what she said is was true is meaningless since every Conservative in America already believes everything she said, regardless of facts or evidence. Her only purpose was to provide talking points about how “Liz made the Liberal media take notice and back down in their campaign to destroy America”.

Judging by any other criterion is just plain old missing the point.

I gets worse

I bet the Secretary also believes the Earth is more than 6,000 years old!

How radical can he get?

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 08:23 PM

Having it both ways.

He will, of course, insist to the mainstream media that he “has changed”.

He will, of course, reassure the religious right that he has not changed one bit.

The religious right will know he is telling them the truth.

The mainstream media will be fooled completely

Fodder for the Birthers

This is just another part of the republican campaign to incite the Timothy McVeigh wing of their party (as though there were any other). Expect a Story-of-the-month to be spread by the Radical Right to continue the Separate Reality that is American Conservatism.

Rock Bottom?

Unfortunately not. If you are an American Conservative there is no bottom.

There is absolutely no accusatoin that a Conservative not make. No claim that is too absurd or venomous to pass their lips. And no amount of hate is enough.

Watch and see.

By October the claims coming from Glen Beck's FoxNews will make "Obama wants to steal your children" appear tame.

And, worst of all, no Republican "leader" will have sufficient integrity to call out the streams of hate for the disgraces they are. and 95% of Republicans across the country will believe 100% of them.

There are Timothy McVeigh's growing out there, and the republican party are gleefully encouraging them.

It is a disgrace. But Conservatives lack the honor to do anything about it.

Labor laws apply to left and right alike.

Virtue001, like all Republicans, would much rather provide fodder for Foxnews that actually do something. In every industry I have ever experienced (Banking, Insurance, Automotive management, software development, aerospace), openly Republican comments are standard practice and democratic leanings will not get you immediately fired, just "eased out".

Why isn't Harry Reid o the list

As the only living primate capable of an upright posture without even the vestige of a spine he should certainly have a spot.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009 08:07 PM

You'd people impeach Thomas Jefferson because of Sally Hemmings.

Given that he was a Democrat, the republicans of today certainly would [impeach him].

Personally I hope that Sanford stays in office.

I hope that Sarah Palin picks him to be her VP nominee in 2012.

I hope that he, along with Ms. Palin, are the faces of the Republican party for the next three years.

Re: “Simply stated, she is outperforming all other Republican presidential hopefuls”

Please, please, please.

Continue to believe in Sarah Palin as the savior of the Republican Party.

Keep her in front and make her your spokespersonon every occasion.

Nominate her for President in 2012 (with Sanford as her VP).

It will be the Republican party’s greatest moment in the party’s history.

Trust me.

Please?

The True Believers

The Sarah Palin/Birther wing of the Republican Party, which is to say the entirety of the Republican party, will flock to Joe Wilson. This was not an “outburst”. It was a smart political move. And the media will play right into it by planting Joe Wilson’s face on TV daily for the next month.

Friday, September 11, 2009 08:41 PM

Of course Democrats will give in to Joe Wilson

And Joe will STILL call them Socialists and refuse to vote for it. But then, when you are devoid of a spine, that is what Demcorats do.

Friday, September 11, 2009 08:48 PM

Why is it..

That Truther have to resign their positions but Birthers never do?

Monday, September 14, 2009 05:11 AM

In return for pledges of support from religious fundamentalists....

The Obama Administration will give away the store on abortion (banning all support).

Then, when it comes time to cash that check, religious fundamentalists will walk away from their promise.

Fooled again.

Different?

It wasn’t that long ago that Republicans were calling anyone who had even one word of criticism for George W. Bush a “traitor”. Of course, that was DIFFERENT, wasn’t it?

Are you better off than you were eight years ago?

For 97% of Americans it is “of course not”. But Conservatives will never admit as much for fear of holding Republicans accountable for their messes.
