This is what passes for Conservative discourse

Name one time in the past thirty years that Conservatives haven’t engaged in smear campaigns rather than “debate”.

Were they “debating” when they were throwing the “treason” charge against anyone who voted for John Kerry in 2004?

Were Conservatives “debating” when they were egging Ken Starr on in his inquisitions in the 1990’s?

Were they “debating” when they introduced anti-gay marriage and flag-burning amendments in Congress every election year?

Were Conservatives “debating” when they waged their “Culture Wars” in 1992?

Were Conservatives “debating” when they made David Duke the Michigan presidential primary winner in 1998?

Were conservatives “debating” when they told America “Jesus is a Republican” in 1984?

The Birthers that speak for Conservatives now are not an aberration: They are exactly what Conservatives are and believe. Anyone who is not adhering to the party line gets the same treatment Castle of Delaware got. Every time.

“erring neighbors”

There same “erring neighbors” were the ones who spent the Bush Administration saying that we Liberals were guilty of Treason, a crime that carries the death penalty.

Why does the author believe that any misunderstanding is all Liberals’ fault?

Glen Beck would be proud!

He is what the Republican party has become.

But those are facts.

Since when have facts stood in the way for Republicans?

Look for them to continue to talk about "death pannels", even after the reimbursement clause is dropped.

Republicans leaders and FoxNews (but I repeat myself) can say anything they want. No Loyal Conservative in America will ever check a fact that comes from FoxNews or Sarah Palin, ever.

Under those circumstances, why should any Republican speaker care if what he/she says in accurate or even makes any sense. The Republican rank and file will obediently follow orders anyway

Baby Rattle.

Re: "I'm assuming the poster identifies with the Glock pistol because it serves so well as a baby rattle."

No. Because it serves their other method of getting doctors out of performing abortions.

...but they have no real courage of their convictions.

Actually Conservatives do have the courage of their convictions.

Conservatives worship power and money above all else. They have no other convictions beyond that. Therefore a Conservative will do or say anything for money or power, regardless of the consequences to their country.

Changing political positions, or even outright, overnight reversals (such as the positions Republicans took a month ago on end-of-life counseling and the positions they have now) are therefore easy for Conservative pundits.

After all, it’s not as if Republicans in the voting electorate ever actually check facts beyond what Sarah Palin told them yesterday.

There's just too much emotion involved. A break from the action might allow more saner discourse.

Unfortunately not.

Republicans wil never abandon their insane levels of hatred of Barak Obama. So they will never stop opposing any form of Health Care reform in order to impose a "Waterloo" on Barak Obama (Republican's words). It is a matter of "beating" President Obama and Republicans do not care one bit what the consequences of inaction are for the United tates are.

Republicans will no more stop attacking anything President Obama proposes (from his judicial nominees to his legislative initiatives) than they will slow down their Birther campaign.

Hate is what they do.

Spine

Why it is that Democrats in Congress believe they will succeed by being completly spineless I'll never know.

This just in.....

The sun rises in the east.

Bears s*** in the woods.

The Pope is Catholic.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 03:52 AM

The "why" is obvious

Because Senate Democrats are under the leadership of the only known primate capable of an upright stance with even the vestige of a spine: Harry Reid.

Best sellers

With all the bulk buys from Conservative think tanks, reaching best seller status should be a cakewalk for Beck.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 07:44 PM

There are plenty of outrageous acts on the left.

The difference is that on the Left there is a continum, ranging from the tin-foil hat brigades who insist that George W. Bush planned the 9/11 attacks to the "blue-dog" Democrats who are Pro-Life and Pro-Second Amendment.

On the Right, Republicans start at the Birthers and..... stay there.

No one in the Republican party is permitted to be any less of a Wingnut than Ann Coulter and Glen Beck. No one.

Original article: Tom DeLay, Birther

How big does the lie have to get before a pusillanimous news media just starts calling it a 'lie'.

If you are Chris Matthews, vapidity personified, about the size of the Washington Monument is not sufficient. Sucking up to power, regardless of Left or Right, is what he does. When Tom DeLay is completely irrelevant, then Chris may develop a spine.

The rightwing hate machine

Don’t forget to mention the well financed, highly organized campaign on the part of the Republican Party, using their near unanimous control of their Congressional delegation to start Astroturf hate campaigns across America.

Aided by a lapdog media that is so whipped by Conservatives that it has become used to taking 100% of their talking points from FoxNews, and it is no wonder that any progress is impossible.

Of course our reporters are too timid to actually mention accountability on the part of the the Rightwing hate machine, so forget about that part.

Original article: What went wrong?

The "R" word

Rationing is happening right now. Insurance companies do it all the time. But the minute any Democrat uses any word that sounds like it, Sarah Palin will trot out her “death panel speech” and Republicans will repeat her lines, 100%. Unfortunately our reporting media are such echo chambers for the GOP that not one of them will point out the obvious errors in their arguments.

Democrats are spineless, Republicans are liars, and our supposedly “independent” media are Republican lapdogs.

Monday, August 24, 2009 05:58 PM

Nothing

There is no lie that Republicans will not present to America. The only mystery is that what passes for our reporting media acts as an echo chamber for them. And that the Democrats are too spineless to fight back. But then, with Harry Reid leading them in congress, perhaps the spinelessness is explainable.

Monday, August 24, 2009 06:04 PM

the most depressing aspect of the picture is...

95% of Republicans will believe that the person in the mask really was Barak Obama and he was stabbing real babies. There is nothing too stupid that Republicans will not believe it, if it comes from FoxNews.

Monday, August 24, 2009 06:06 PM

I challenge anyone to dispute this: you can't.

I dispute it. Prove your assertion. And prove it with real, scientifically conducted studies and statistics, not an anecdote that Sean Hannity told you on FoxNews.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009 04:04 AM

The GOP looks more pathetic every day.

Unfortunately there is one thing more pathetic: It is Harry Ried handing over the keys to the Senate to Republicans on a daily basis.
