No investigation will happen in the Senate.

The Health Care reform would have to pass first, and include funding for spinal transplants, before Harry Ried would do anything that might make Republicans upset with him.

And, to think...

That a Creationist would have been our Vice President had John McCain won in November.

The political imperative toward ignorance.

When one political party, the Republican Party lead by George W. Bush, makes “war on science” one of the cornerstones of its political strategy, the common ignorance of what science is and scientists are like to be what it is.

And the Republican Party, exemplified by individuals such as Senator Inhofe and Creationists who dominate party thinking, will continue their war on science: An ignorant public is easily frightened, and fear is the key to Republican electoral strategy.

The e-mails are on their way

By the end of the week I fully expect my conservative friends and relatives to be forwarding this “quote” to me, complete with “absolute” proof of its veracity.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 07:51 PM

By the end of the week....

Republicans will be declaring that she was in league with Saddam Hussein in planning the 9/11 attacks.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 08:45 PM

Of course

Republicans always alibi their way out by claiming, "we were just kidding".

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 05:48 PM

Of course the media is ignoring his past

He's a Republican and Republicans always get a Free Pass from the Mainstream media.

We have heard "Wise Latina" about a million times. How many times have Session's comments been broadcast?

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 05:53 PM

Well, if Dan Boren loses in 2010...

There's likely an open invitation for him to be the "balance" on "Fair and Balanced" FoxNews.

Sunday, July 19, 2009 05:37 PM

Actually, as we all know.

George W. Bush never really gave up golf. He just said he did.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009 07:14 PM

It is strange....

These same Democrats are acting like Republicans in hopes of surviving in “Red” districts: As though Republicans are not going to accuse them of Treason in the next election anyway.

They should look at the example of what Republicans did to Max Cleland.

If they think that Republicans will show them one ounce more decency because they helped defeat any Health Care reform under Barak Obama, then they have not been paying attention to the party of Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh.

$1 trillion

The cost of Bush's war in Iraq has, this year, passed the $1 trillion mark. And every Conservative in the country will declare it was worth every nickle.

The Conservatives got to spend their Trillion so George W. Bush could make a photo-op landing on the Abraham Lincoln. I do not recall any of you Conservatives speaking of "bankrupting America" then.

Or was that DIFFERENT?

Tuesday, July 21, 2009 08:40 PM

Sarah Palin is nothing more than a clown.

But Republicans, to a man/woman, will tell you that she represents REAL AMERICA, and that she should be president of the United States.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 03:59 AM

Very good point

Conservatives appear to always be afraid of everything. And they hate what they fear.

Thursday, July 23, 2009 04:46 AM

Satisfied

Does anyone seriously believe that, even should such a "Long Form" exist, that the Birthers would be satisfied?

Thursday, July 23, 2009 09:19 PM

It's not you.

And it is all about an AFRICAN-American President.

The Birthers are the respectable cover for what Richard Nixon called his "Southern Strategy".

Friday, July 24, 2009 04:41 AM

It had nothing to do with doubts about guilt

And everything to do with the fact that the "Compassionate Conservative” actually has no compassion for anyone, friend or foe.

That is what it means to be born without a conscience.

Monday, July 27, 2009 06:17 PM

Squirm

If the Birthers are trying to pretend the resolutoin did not happen, then it is up to the rest of us to "help". I propose that we all send letters to the editors of our local papers (the ones that are left) congratulating Congress for the resolutoin, and including the Barak obama reference.

That should "help".

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 04:24 AM

Worst for whom?

Not for Republicans. They want this to be Barak Obama's "Waterloo". For them this is all about political power, and the cost to Americans is meaningless. Republicans have put Party before country for more than a decade, so why is anyone surprised?

Thursday, July 30, 2009 08:00 PM

He could have been speaking on Hannity, O'Reilly, Rush, Beck .....

It doesn't matter.

They'll just make up what he "should" have said. Their audience will believe it anyway.

Friday, July 31, 2009 04:15 AM

Perhaps we shold try another route

Since every single state secretary of state (or equivalent) certified the vote totals for Barak Obama and John McCain, we have legally binding opinions that they were both eligible to be president. It is time to just the the Birthers, “if you believe Barak Obama is not eligible to be president, then you go out and prove it.

Rush can always base his broadcasts from the dominican Republic.

He can use a satellite link to reach the US, and I understand he likes the “entertainments” there.

Imagine this scenario:

Imagine this scenario:

On the front page of your local paper is a copy of this cartoon.

Right next to it is your picture and the company logo, with the caption that you knew this vendor was sending out racist messages, but you still were doing business with them, when there were alternatives.

Now what do you say when the local news team is on your doorstep, asking for a comment?

What does your boss say?

You do not know to whom else this vendor sent these messages, and sooner or later it will come out.

If you worked for me, and you did not report this, I would have to cut off business with this vendor and fire you for putting our company, and me, in jeopardy.

I cannot be any plainer than that.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 04:48 PM

What's the mystery?

Why is anyone the least bit surprised at Mr. Bolton’s sneering distain? As with all NeoConservatives there was really only element of consideration:

Did Bill Clinton do it?

Then we hate it!

Monday, August 10, 2009 03:55 AM

Schience v.....

science versus religion, science versus the arts, science versus traditional ethics

Add science versus the political establishment. In the United States we have also established that one of our political parties, the Republican party, is adamently opposed to any scientific inquiry whatsoever, in favor of the Biblical tenets of the King James Bible, as interpreted by the Religious Right.

It may not stop scientific inquiry worldwide, but it will certaily cripple it in the US, which will cost us in the long term.
