Re: "Can't we discuss Hagee the horrible, too? Since the US has no problems, we should have time to talk about him as well."
Of course not. That would be holding Republicans to the same standard as Democrats. And Foxnews would never permit that to happen. Without the lead of Foxnews, the rest of the Mainstream Media would not know on what to report (it's not as if there are any wars that are going badly, or inflation, or increased poverty in the US, or our government torturing people as part of natinal policy).
Unfortunately this will work completely, right through President McCain's innaugeration.
Perhaps Rev. Wright is in line for one of those "Faith-Based Initiativees" for a few $ million.
Nah!
The Bush Administration could never be that cynical, could it?
But all our media can talk about is whether or not Barak Obama has sufficiently distanced himself from Rev. Wright.
The Conservative media will keep this smokescreen in place right through the November elections. And the rest of the media reporters are too lazy and spineless to do anything but follow along.
Why is it that Republican Candidates, averaging two- to three-marriages apiece are automatically given a pass as being "blessed" by God, while Democratic Candidates must "prove" their religion to the satisfaction of the most right-wing televangelist's satisfaction?
John McCain, the Baptist/Episcopalian sucks up to the Hagee's of America, does no one care about that?
Have all those Preachers been bought off that easily by the Bush Administration "Faith-Based initiatives"?
The answers to my two questions above are, of course, "No!", and "Yes! Definately!"
Recall that this White House includes loyalists from the Reagan Administration, whose crimes were revealed when e-mail archived revealed they were lying to Congress about selling weapons to Axis-of-Evil Iran.
Does anyone, other than our lap dog media reporters, actually believe that this change was for any reason other than to enable the Bush Team to edit and remove from archiving incriminating e-mails?
Re: "The issue of G.I. benefits doesn't seem like it will disappear anytime soon. CNN reported just yesterday on the many veterans who feel they were misled about the level of benefits they'd receive for their service. "
Yes it will.
John McCan will hold another barbecue and the lap dog press will go back to bringing him donuts and pontificating on why Barak Obama doesn't wear and American Flag pin in his lapel.
Well, obviously the network news shows, FoxNews and Chris Mathews have some more work to do. Perhaps if they pander to Rev. Wright for a few more weeks and offer him some more opportunities to peddle his views, they can succeed in distracting America from John McCain's pledges to continue Bush's war's and policies sufficiently to insure a "President McCain" at least through 2012.
It's not as if they aren't trying hard enough to put thier friend in the White House now.
pandas said yesterday: "The only ones who should be and who are likely to use this “issue” against the Clinton’s are the Republicans, and there are plenty of Republicans that have problems with infidelity..."
However Republicans are not held accountable for infidelities, only Democrats are.
John McCain was blatantly commiting adultery on his (then) wife who stood by him while he was a POW, but not one single member of the "Values Voters" Community will dare mention it. However every member of that same community will hold Hillary Clinton accountable for Bill Clinton's sins.
In fact, if necessary, these same "Christians" will hold Barak Obama accountable for Bill Clinton's sins merely by association.
Even arch-Conservative Pat Buchanan, in the context of Rev. Hagee, as described the seperate (meaning non-existant) set of standards that are (not) applied to John McCain. The Mainstream media keep saying, "but that will end soon". A line we have been hearing since November 2007. That "soft touch" reporting may actually end some day, but not likely until the last year of John McCan's second term as President.
Re: "But as CNBC's John Harwood suggested on "Hardball" today, McCain might have to come out and publicly renounce Bush, the way Obama did Wright, to have any hope of winning come November."
Absolutely Zero Chance of that happening, by name. John McCain needs the Republican base that is still 100% loyal to George W. Bush to contribute the money he needs to run.
He will obliquely criticize President Bush by speaking about "mistakes that were made". But, of course, the "mistakes" will be described as though they fell from the sky and not as if anyone in the Bush Administration is accountable for any of them.
John McCain knows he can count on the Lap Dog media to portray this as some sort of "revolutionary break" to Independent voters, as the reporters work to assist their "barbecue" friend into the White Hosue.
Count on the lap Dog medfia to completely ignore this ignomious anniversary in favor of more rehashing about whether or not Barak Obama really listens to Rev. Wright.
The problem is that the writer somehow believes that her body belongs to her, and not James Dobson.
She has obviously not been paying attention.
Re: "The reason people debate Obama vs. Clinton is because one of them is certain to become the next president."
Not if Chris Mathews and the rest of the Mainstream media have anything to do with it. Every one of them have been working as hard as anyone at Foxnews to get John McCain in the White House.
But I thought everything was "getting better" in Iraq?
I'm sure we'll be hearing this same story in the Spring of 2012, as Media Favorite John McCain's second term is winding down.
That should have been John McCain's FIRST term. The media will, of course, be echoig how much better the Iraq is in order to assist in President McCain's re-election.
