$500K?

Tell you what.

I'll offer to drive a Wall Street firm into bankrupcy and into the hands of the federal government for a handout. And I'll do it for $250K, half what our current "geniuses" want.

How's that for a deal?

Spine

I believe it is safe to predict that the Senate Democrats will show every bit as much spine now as they displayed when confronting the Bush Administration.

Republican lies

The American public already get that on a 24-hour per day basis. It's called Foxnews.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 12:29 PM

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Now there are NO Democrats in the Senate with balls.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 12:35 PM

And this time Joe won't have Karl Rove helping him.

It couldn't happen to a "nicer" person.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 02:12 PM

So, Dems, come up with a workable comprimise. Stand strong.....

You're kidding, aren't you?

These are the 21st Century Senate Democrats: The first instance where a mammal de-evolved into an organism totally lacking even a vestigal vertebrate structure.

The Religious Right is outraged?

There's nothing new about that.

And the fact that FoxNews will mislead their audience about the facts is routine as well.

The next step will be, naturally, a stream of e-mails to the Faithful about the Anti-God bill in front of Congress, as though this is the very first time this has been included in a law. The messages are already written and should be out by tomorrow.

It is obvious that every aspect of the Right will follow Rush Limbaugh's orders to do everything they can to "make Obama fail", no matter what the consequences for the country.

The candidate, Sarah Palin lost, so now Conservatives hate America. It is time to stop being subtle about this and describe the situation for what it is: One political party, the Republicans, are now the enemy of the United States and will do everything in their power to increase the misery in the US in order to further their political agenda.

Nothing less describes the situation our country now faces.

Shame?

Re: "Another package can always be put together. The shame of failing will give Reid the backbone needed to get it right and will also shame the whole damn Senate into action."

Apparently you have not been paying attention for the past two years. No amount of humiliation will cause Senator Reid to develop one iota more fortitude than he has shown in the past. When subpoenaed Bush Administration officials simply refuse to show up, and Senate Majority Reid does not even say one word about it, what further humiliation would be sufficient?

Perhaps striping him naked and leading him down the Washington Mall might do it? The Republicans have been doing that legislatively for two years.

Placing a filled chamber pot onto a plate and forcing Mr. Reid to eat the contents? Check out the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act:

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/04/congress.fisa/

No. As has been amply demonstrated there is no degradation to which Republicans can subject Harry Reid that he is not capable of exceeding a week later.

To describe Harry Reid as weak, ineffectual and spineless is to do an injustice to those adjectives and ascribe far more fortitude to him than he actually possesses.

Original article: Stimulus bill not dead yet

Back in the day...

...when Republicans had the White House and a smaller majority it the Senate that Demcorats do now...

Republicans rammed through 99% of everything they wanted.

What changed?

As far as I can tell the only difference is that the then Republican Senate Majority Leader posessed a spine.

Thursday, February 5, 2009 09:37 AM

Yes. He does know.

"Socialism" is the word that Conservatives have decided is the term they are going to scare America into voting Republican in 2010. It did not work last Fall, but they will keep on trying.

And it might work as long as our media are just stenographers for RNC talking points, as they have been for the past eight years.

Thursday, February 5, 2009 01:51 PM

It's about time

There always was zero chance that more than a handful of Republicans were going to disobey Rush Limbaugh.

However Mr. Reid needs 51 votes, not 60. If Republicans want to filibuster the bill, then the Senate majority Leader should grow a pair and actually make them filibuster, day and night, as long as it takes. Let America see the Limbaugh-led-Republicans blocking any attempt to aleviate the suffering of their country.

However.

Should that actually happen I would recommend that the FBI be called in since such an action would be clear evidence that someone has kidnapped the Senate Majority Leader and replaced him with a look-alike, since such an action would never be taken by the Harry Ried that we have seen for the past two years.

Do we really tell people how to run [a business], and who to pay and how much to pay?"

When the taxpayers are handing over billions of dollars to bail them out, "Yes, we do!"

If these executives with their hands out can't somehow get by on a $ 1/2 millin a year, then let them go out on the market and see if some other firm is willing to pay them more than that to drive them into bankrupcy as well.

Friday, February 6, 2009 11:29 AM

Three Republicans?

Rush Limbaugh will not be pleased.

Friday, February 6, 2009 11:34 AM

I bet they'd cave.

Not as long as the Democrats have this for a Senate Majority Leader:

Now I understand

So Barak Obama was not born in Hawaii.

He was not born in Kenya.

He was not born in Indonesia.

He was born in..... Mirmansk!

Speaking of The Onion

The problem that satirical publications such as The Onion have is that nothing they make up to be funny is as far out as the tales Conservatives tell each other, and 100% believe.

Republicans have become impossible to parody.

Who else would put up as the symbol of Family vales...

Newt Gingrich, whose wife had to take a collection at her church to keep her house because he was a deadbeat dad.

Sarah Palin, whose pregnant teenage daughter was "talking about" getting married to her high school dropout boyfriend.

Drug addict Rush Limbaugh, caught returning to the US with a supply of Viagra from the Dominican Republican.

If someone had written a satire of the Republican party twenty years ago and published it with these leaders, they would have been laughed out of the business for making this kind of stuff up.

And now Republicans are screaming about the evils of DEFICIT SPENDING!
