Elbows?

It takes more than elbows. I can easily picture Hillary jacking up Mitch McConnel by the... [pick any part of the anatomy], and doing it with a smile.

But Caroline?

I hope she takes after her father.

Vanishing act

Let's see. This is the same Bush Administration that managed to lose a shipment of about $11 billion in US currency, 130 pallet loads, on the way to Iraq, without a trace.

So tell me again why anyone is surprised that $350 of bailout money "went missing", with nothing to show for it?

War Crimes?

What do you expect? Our media reporters still think the worst thing any President has ever done is get a BJ in the Oval Office, not start a useless war and bungling the occupation to the point of bankrupting America.

Original article: The economic Civil War

Why the strategy will fail

The author pointed out why the stratgy suggested will fail. It requires the support of at least some "moderate" Republicans (both of them) to succeed.

The Republican Party has transformed itself into a southern-rural based party, surviving by plundering the wealth of the rest of America to substiize a minority of poor, white, rural/southern, disaffected, religious fanatics.

And that is never going to change: Not as long as James Dobson and Rush Limbaugh control the party. And they are not going away any time soon.

So our next best suggestion is to allow the South to continue to starve itself, but start to deny them the subsidies they have dependend on to insulate themselves from the consequenses of their policies: A third-world country within the Untied States. Let's stop handing Mississippi $1.10+ for every $1 they send in taxes, while Pennsylvania gets 86 cents. Let our southern parasites start to actually live the "self reliance" they preach to the country. The politicians who spew this stuff would not last one election if the rest of us were not subsidizing them.

No more handouts to the South. That should be our motto.

Democratic acquiescence

The fact that the Democrats in Congress proved to be as spineless in their collaboration with Dick Cheney as they were feckless in the face of Republican filibusters does not make the crimes of the Bush Administration less serious. It just means that Dick Cheney got away with it, to the detriment of us all.

Baby Jesus

In that case we will have to go back to the "good old days" when Baby Jesus was not directly visible and played by a 100 watt light bulb.

Makes it much easier to replace and not fun whatsoever to steal.

Original article: About that pardon...

A little more difficult?

From what alternate reality did the author get this idea? George W. Bush will pardon whom he chooses, when he chooses, for whatever reason he chooses: Just as he will issue executive orders cementing in Radical Right policies as deeply as his Loyal Bushies in the federal bureaucracy.

Republicans will, without exception back President Bush on this, as they have on everything else. The toothless Democrats will say nothing. The spineless media will report almost nothing beyond a notice on page 101 of the papers.

George W. Bush has had virtually unfettered power since 9/11. In what way does the author believe "W" will feel even slightly hindered now?

Original article: About that pardon...

Still in prison

There are still more than three weeks to go. Some time on or before the last day, the floodgate of pardons for politically connected Republicans and War Criminals will be opened. And 100% of Republicans will support every one of them, without a single exception.

Original article: The economy crumbled

Difficult... but not impossible

Re: "For the foreseeable future it's going to be very difficult for a politician to argue that markets work best when the government stays off the playing field."

Never under estimate the ability of Conservatives to extol the virtue of the free market, no matter what the consequences, and particularly when the consequences do not apply to them.

That is why Steven Forbes is so popular as an "economic analyst" on FoxNews.

Conservative propoganda

Pundits, such as Sowell, have been spreading this junk for years. The only question is whether or not our media will spinelessly report "both sides" of the argument as though each was equally valid (while the Conservative media, led by FoxNews will only report the Sowell side) so that Americans believe that FDR caused the Great Depression.

Next Stop: Saddam Hussein really did plan the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Republican threats

If Harry Ried shows as much spine as he did through the last two years, al Franken will never take his seat.

Optimism

Re: "His current level of silence and total lack of leadership regarding events in Gaza do not leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling about how this is going to work out and thus, I don't share Greenwald's optimism."

barak has the power to name individuals to his administration. He does not have any power, at the moment, to do anything about the war in Gaza. George W. Bush has that power. If Barak Obama gave statements that did not mirror those of George W. Bush Conservatives would be the first ones to accuse Pres9ident-Elect Barak Obama of undermining the current President.

Or, like all Conservatives, are you gearing up to point fingers at Barak Obama for everything that happens, even before he taks office (giving the usual Conservative Free Pass to George W. Bush, of course)?

readable vs Best Seller

Of course the book will say absolutely nothing of value. And, also of course, the book will be a best seller, based mainly on the bulk sales to Conservative organizations that bolster all the books from the political Right to "best seller" status.

Reaching out to the GOP

The move is, IMO, a genuine attempt to reach out and incorporate Republican agendas into President Obama's policies: Just as he promised.

In return Republicans will slap him in the face, fillibuster the bill and (after inserting lots of give aways to their backers) go on FoxNews and declare the bill solid proof that Barak Obama is a "Socialist" after all.

Was Rush Limbaugh on it?

What James Dobson wants.....

James Dobson gets, if you are a Republican.

He's a shoe-in.
