"Deficits don't matter"

Re: "just told us how patriotic is to pay extra taxes... it's hard to deny being tax and spend liberals with statements like this coming out."

And the Republican policy of "Borrow and Spend" is somehow more noble? At least the Democrats are honest enough to tell America that they have to pay for the government they want/get.

Republicans tell America that there really is a "Free Lunch" out there. And Republicans will give it to America: No problems, ever.

And Conservatives somehow defend that practice.

Rift? Ha!

When the White House sends out its orders as to how to vote, Congressional Republicans will dutifully obey and vote exactly as directed. Just as they virtually always do.

This "rift" is just political smoke blowing for the sake of the November elections. The media is supposed to repeat this story for American voters as though it were true, allowing Republicans to run as "Mavericks" this fall. Given the sheepish nature of America's reporting establishment, it will work perfectly.

After the elections they will fall back in line again. Republicans always do.

So what?

It's only John McCain: Making promises he has no intention of keeping... Basing statements on falatious concepts.

It's not as if anyone is ever going to hold him accountable for what he says. Bertainly not his Base in the reporting establishment.

Contempt

When your national government declares its policy is to torture prisoners, what else do you expect?

Conservatives consider themselves not subject to the law. Thanks to a spineless Congress, they are.

But John McCain SAYS that he's Green!

Isn't that enough?

After all, John McCain SAYS that he's a Maverick (TM), even though he has followed the George w. Bush line 90% of the time. And or media reporters repeat that line, unchallenged, every time.

So why shouldn't our reporting establishment (otherwise known as John McCain's, "Base") accept the "environmental" claim in an equally docile manner?

Extinction

Re: "A lot of hot air, you guys in Salon hate McCain and Palin and you don't even know Palin. Fact is this earth has been here umpteen millions of years, it can shake us off like a dog shakes off fleas if it wants. The enviornmental kooks don't even know that species become extinct every day and new ones arrive."

That is a good point. However many of us would rather defer the extinction of Human Beings a little while longer.

Obviously a goal that is not shared by Conservatives such as yourself.

Umpteen million?

#2 Re: "Fact is this earth has been here umpteen millions of years,"

Better check that one out. According to your hero, Sarah Palin, the universe is only about 6,000 years old and has never changed. It will remain as such until the destruction of the Earth( and its accompanying return of the Lord) which Saint Sarah and all Conservatives pray will happen very soon.

Same mistake again?

That is exactly what we are about to do.

America is going to elect John McCain president because:

> Barak Obama is a secret Muslim.

> Barak Obama is a secret radical-leftwing Christian.

> Barak Obama does not put his hand ove rhis heard during the National Anthem (although he does when reciting the Pledge of Allegience).

> Barak Obama does not always wear an American Flag pin o his lapel.

> Sarah Palin can field dress a moose.

Look forward to eight more years of the same.

Starting to?

Re the author's comment, "I’m starting to think McCain will say anything, promise anything, associate with anyone (whether as running mate or endorser) to win this election. "

Where was the writer when Saint John McCain went, on bended knee, to ask forgiveness from Pat Robertson for being offended over the smearing he took in the 2000 South Carolina Presidential Primary?

Our media is so much John McCain's Base that they are still astonished when John McCain acts like John McCain: The blatant opporutnist who will promise anyone anything to get elected, and always has. The fact that our media got to see his uncontrolled temper in action (against Falwell and Robertson) in 2000 and his pairing with Russ Feingold on campaign finance (to innoculate him from the Keating Five scandal) just appears to add to his Maverick (TM) image among his adoring media.

Just remember, John McCain will only KEEP the promises made to the Religious Right and other Republican entities. Those made to entice Democrats will go into the McCain Administration trash can as quickly as "Compassionate Conservative" did in George W.Bush's.

Qualifies

Re: "I’m pretty sure this, along with the fact that I’m on my third U.S. passort, effectively qualifies me for a position as an undersecretary of state of something in the McCain-Palin administration. "

And, if not, there's always Director of FEMA.

Schaller is...

Just another case of John McCain's Base trying to come to his rescue when his campaign for president appeared to need it.

Monday, September 22, 2008 08:54 AM

Right Wing opposition?

Don't worry. For about $20 to $30 million in Wall Street campaign contributions to the McCain/Palin "compliance" committee, that oppositon will change faster than John McCain's religious affiliation.

How? It's easy!

Re: "May I ask how it is that McCain is allowed to poach on the credibility of others by dropping the names of people who, so far as I can tell, may not necessarily agree with him or his policies, aren't paid or unpaid advisors for his campaign, and might never agree to serve in his administration? "

It is very easy to do when John McCain knows that not one member of the reporting media will actually take the time to check the facts of his speech, let alone report on it.

You're kidding? Right?

Re: "Schaller, you need to point out, each and every time, what the underlying lie is."

That would require research and real work. Much easier to just repeat (White House supplied) talking points, write up some feelings and be off to the next McCain Family Barbecue.
